Nvidia's home page has a rather interesting banner up. I wonder what it all really means? I personally think it will be an announcement of lower end 7800s, to complete the line, as in 7800, 7800gt, and of course with the 7800gtx being the thrid. But as this has been shot down by this guy: http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1028054120&postcount=23

What do you all think?

Here is the main page incase you dont want to see it blown up like that: http://www.nvidia.com

...of 3 6800ultras? The gtx is supposed to have the power of about 2, so a 7800 Ultra might be it?
Interesting stuff- cant wait to see what it is..
I know many think the gtx is the top of the range, but to me it just doesn't make proper business sense, to bring out the flagship card first in the range- i think its the middle of the 7800 range.

Do you have a link to wherever u discovered that piece of information? I really dont think thats true, in fact, i bet 3 of my left testicles that its not.

What information? I never said it was information, just what i thought- it doesn't seem that unplausible.

The release of the video card that's in the PS3 to the PC??? Even though I thought the 7800 GTX was more powerful.

nope the ps3 graphics chip is the one more powerful than 2 6800 ultras or w/e it is they said. If you look at the link above you can get an idea as to how insane next generation console graphics will be. That is until pc passes right by them. As for the whole point of this thread, its pretty interesting, i was thinking maybe being able to use 3 graphics cards, but i dont see how that would make sense, it will be interesting to see tho

I thought the PS3 was using 7800GTX

The PS3 will have a similar GPU to the 7800GTX, but it will be better.

and more expensive :D
Well, I somehow doubt that the PS3 will be more expensive than what I paid for my 7800gtx ($620).

How would that link into "the power of 3" ?

There have been many suggestions in the forum linked at the start of this thread, including the possibility of the power of three meaning the release of the 7800 vanilla and the 7800 GT to give a lineup of 3 7800 series etc, this was however said to be false by someone with insider info.

A couple of possibilities that had yet to confirmed true or false:

Possible the release of the 7600 and 7200 ranges to lineup with the 7800 range, and the possibility of a multi-threaded driver that works with dual-core cpu's and gpu, don't ask me how lol.

Someone mentioned a triple head graphics card, but personally i can't see how that would warrant a count down, and getting everyone excited lol.

the power of 300$ :p

Its kinda weird, because I can't think of anything that follows the theme in the flash animation. You don't use old technologies, so don't use old gfx cards. I really don't know what they are on about. Anyone had any other ideas, or found out from that forum what it is, the guy ChrisRay seems to know what its about.

Chirs always know :p

The power of 3 graphics cards, in one card (Ultra-cooled?)

think about it
you can store more on compact disc than you can on vinyl
you can serve the net faster on broadband than dial-up
You can type more reliably with MS word (God help us all!) than on a typewriter

Hhm, it sounds like they are trying to sell a new graphics card
More memory
More speed
More reliability

Hang on a minute, if you take it more literally, "the power of 3" is 1x10^3 in mathematical terms, which means 1000, as in 1000Mb. 1Gb GDDR3 memory?

I'm surprised nobody suggested trading in old video cards.

All of that banner made me think something allong the lines of "trade in 3 mx4's for a 6800v".

The part about NOT buying old video cards made me think that ESPECIALLY.

Well, it was the first thing that popped into my head, and personally, I think it's highly probable.

Yes, no?

Just had a look at the beyond3d forum, and that guy ChrisRay said that its not hardware related.

ChrisRay said:
It's not new hardware. Only one person in this thread has had the correct answer.

So if you can be bothered, then you could go through teh forum and look for suggestions that aren't hardware related.
