I would've preferred the original subtitle, Welcome Back, Frank (also title of Garth Ennis' first and certainly not last legendary stab at the Punisher universe), but Ray Stevenson as Punisher? **** yes. I love Thomas Jane, but Stevenson is a far better choice. Being a big Ennis Punisher fan, I was largely disappointed with the first film. Setting it in Florida instead of New York, making Frank in his 30s rather than his 50s, largely uninteresting villains (though the Russian was done right), the whole "big chain reaction" plan he creates throughout the movie to get to the enemies isn't Punisher style at all. He's clever and intelligent of course, but doesn't waste time doing that. He's a man of action. I did enjoy the family reunion thing. That was way more ****ing brutal than his actual origins. Over the top? Oh yes. But still brutal.
Do I have high hopes for Punisher 2? No. But at least it doesn't sound completely ****ing retarded so far.
