No one can escape the RIAA.. mwaahhahahhahaa. This is one of my favorite torrent sites (linux distros downloaded so fast there :( its a shame the RIAA shuts down the legal parts of sites too...) Fascists. Althought I compliment them on putting the sites head on a stick for the world to see.

The illegal downloading of motion pictures robs multi-millionaire actors and directors of 40 dollars a download. Even though we get paid more per hour than you make over the course of your life, we will still impose our will on the internet community. We're honest and hard-working, we swear.

I dont like pirating things, but these guys make it hard to sympathize with them.

Edit: oh yeah, this is the MPAA, not the RIAA.

The MPAA is just as evil as the RIAA.
www.eff.com <these people HATE the RIAA, MPAA, and pretty much any other group that abuses copyright laws to do bad things

But the way they do it is quite savage and often times Illegal, or abuses our civil rights.

Yea but i've managed to save a few thousand bucks by d/ling their products.. what do you expect?
Their going to do w/e they can get away with to stop people.
I know i would if i were them.

I don't think they'll ever be able to stop it, the more they close down, the farther underground they'll will just go. Or find completely new ways to do it so they can't get caught. Kinda like suprnova and exeem :E

It actually isn't "stealing" music. Its not theft, its infringement.

I cant see how they prove anybody is stealing the music. Arent you entitled to download it if you own the cd? How do they know you dont own the cd already. Or maybe thats just games.

Yes, technically you are entitled to it when you own the CD. But thanks to loopholes, and ignoring little facts like that they can do whatever they want.

Awwww....I almost feel bad that the big-wigs at these companies won't be able to buy that 3rd wonderful summer home in the Bahamas because of movie/music downloading.

I employ the Robin Hood ideal of thievery. F*ck the obscenely rich.

what about the inbetween? all the workers in the music business that aren't rich? these people are getting ripped off as well.

theres no doubt that the big wigs get a big cut, but what do you think happens when the available $ set aside for operations is lowered because of piracy? this can mean downsizing, people on all walks from low to mid way in the chain getting laid off. what? you think the big wigs are going to compensate by taking $ out of their wallet? no you got it right, they would sooner downsize than do that.

im not going to tell anyone not to pirate because it doesn't mean much coming from some random person on a forum. but im just making you aware that you aren't just affecting the big wigs when you pirate music, as you might like to think. there are MANY jobs available in the music industry and movie industry besides being a high up suit that takes a large chunk of the revenue. normal people like you and me occupy these spaces, and they aren't supported by people with 100 gig mp3 collections.

-

now you say, "oh well im sure you've never pirated anything in your life!"

and then i say "yes i have in the past when i was younger, but then i got a job and at the same time realized i wouldn't like to have my work taken for granted.

poseyjmac has a point. If you download a film, the cinema and dvd manufacturer lose out way before anyone else.. and they do emply minimum wage people... like us and our sons and daughters...

The British anti-pirating advert makes me laugh in cinemas, it states "Pirating funds terrorism and organised crime"... lol, i can just imagine Bin laden and Raneeerie (the chelsea geezer) going to boot sales and selling knock-off dvd's :p

The RIAA can go **** themselves. I live in Canada so they can't touch me. And Downloading music is legal here...

Unfortunately this is true. Assholes at the top of these companies don't bother cutting out their big bonuses before they lay off a few hard-working employees lower on the chain. I don't download movies but I do download a few songs here and there. I feel that the song or 2 I d/l every month doesn't take out of anybody's pocket...because if I didn't d/l it for free I would've just lived without it anyways. If anything my behavior in d/ling music helps the music industry because I go to concerts more readily because of the music I hear when I d/l. People that d/l thousands of songs and don't buy cd's aren't ok in my book...but what can I do?

I have a 1 gig music collection :p

Indeed.

Don't worry the revolution is taking care of of the RIAA.

Question: So if everyone downloaded everything and paid for nothing. Where does the money come from for the artists and those who worked on it?

Just cause one or two people downloading something wont hurt, it will when thousands are doing it on a daily basis.

Directors and music artists should feel flattered when people download their music and movies.

why? why would someone taking something for free from you make you feel good? Anyone can DL something if they like it or not, to pay for it shows you must genuinly like it otherwise you wouldn't be paying for it and saying with your money "here, I like what you did and believe you deserve the small amount your asking for it from me"

And you didn't answer my question neither

Yeah I agree. The guy who ran the newsagent down the road when I was younger thought it was great that people would steal his merchendise, because he knew it meant they really loved what he had to sell. That shop isn't open any more...wonder what happened to him.

Heh yep :)

I wonder how long people who never pay for anything will keep doing it if the jobs they do suddenly stop paying. I can really see the Burger King workers still working behind the counter when suddenly nobody pays for the burgers and they don't get paid at the end of the month.

People seem to think that the film and music industry is "fun" and that the people involved in it do it for the love of films or music, it ain't nothing like that, its people trying to earn a living just like some guy in a bookstore or someone in burger king, or the guy who cleans the streets, the only classy part of it is what walks down the red carpets to premiere's, the actual work is done by people sat in stuffy rooms for days and nights working to incredibly tight deadlines, film crews stuck in freezing conditions, having to life off very unhealthy food, getting up at stupid times of the morning, being paid hardly anything (considering what they do)

Only the big name actors get a lot of money and then get all the credit. No that wont change if more people download stuff, it'll just bump the prices they charge and lower the amounts the others involved get, meaning they'll go elsewhere or just stop. They stop, there's no film, no films no downloads, no downloads, then what?

The only way downloading everything for free will become a workable solution is if money is abolished completely, and that is never gonna happen.

To my knowledge, when you buy a music CD, you dont physically sign any license aggrement. This goes for software too. The only thing that I usualy sign is the touchpad that I sign to verify that I want the ridicoulous amount of $20 bucks for a f***ing music CD charged to my debit card.

And I'm sure that when he said it, the livelyhoods of everyone who worked on the movie didn't really appear in his mind.

basically what Farrowlesparrow just said. Actors often don't think before they speak. And to go along with anything an actor tells you is well.. yeah lol.

Its funny because you can attach many meanings to it.

The first thing I thought was that actually, too many people let the RIAA get up their arse for no reason.

Then i thought that actually it could symbolise the RIAA getting dirty and cleaning away all the turd.

Then I went for a poo...

The last line of you tiny article is the correct answer.
