woot I loved the ring, cant wait for second one

the ring had some of the most fantastic creepy imagery I have ever seen.. cant wait to see the second installment

the ring is a dupe of a japaneese movie, called RING

ive got the japaneese version on dvd, americans duped it silly. lol

I did'nt like the Ring, as KinGadY says, its a bad verson of the japanase movie RING. Now japanase know how to make a horror film.

Well the guy who is directing the American version of The Ring 2 is the same guy as who directed Ringu and Ringu 2. So expect some very Japanese type horror.

Same here...I really thought the Ring was average at best and had a ton of plot holes/problems. And it just wasn't scary to me as you could predict pretty much everything.

(reading post below this)

Good to see the original director is doing this though! In that case, I might actually catch this movie.

I dunno if many people even care, but, I'm too much a fan not to post this :)

Edit: On a related horror note, "The Grudge," the American remake of of the Japanese horror movie "Ju-On: The Grudge" now has a trailer online too. It looks pretty creepy, and I figure people might be interested in it too:

I bet the guys who did the first US Ring movie are kicking themselves now for not having done it properly like The Grudge seems to have been. By the looks of it its a proper remake as in keeping almost all the scary bits intact, just setting it somewhere different but for the most part not changing anything from Ju-On. Atleast they've got the elevator and shower scene, probably have the room one too, and they BETTER have the bed scene, jeez that bit scared the shit out of me hahaha (begins to panic cause its almost dark soon, oh oh)

I've not heard good things about The Ring 2 though. Apart from it having little to no Samara in it, they spoilt the second one from being worthwhile by splicing together segments of the original japanese films, minus Ring zero in the first one. Which IMO was always a bad idea.

I guess they could always do the exact opposite of the Japanese makers, while they pretend now Rasen never happened. The US makers could pretend The Ring never happened and just make Rasen, which will probably be more suited to western tastes (all scientific and stuff) Atleast then The Ring and The Ring two could be put to rest and allow the Japanese trilogy to get the recognition it deserves, rather than some dickhead making a scary movie version to spoil it.

Me too. :(

Edit: Nevermind, I read your paragraph all wrong.

The Ring 2 could very well be a good film, we'll just have to wait and see.

Woo+American Cinema=Face/off and Face/off owned.

I hope they have another funny scene like with the horse and the old guy in the tub.

Shuzer, I always knew that you were a big fan of the ring/s...cause of your ave dedication to the ring movie........that is not the point anyway.

The point is, I ve watched tons of Horror movies and none have scared me; Except for the ring movie which made me feel like I wanted to puke everytime I see the ugly little Girl. Moreover, after the first time of watching the ring movie, I I have not slept for 2.5 days after that, cause I was so afraid that she might attack me or something,..... I am not jokeing....seroiusly !!....The ring movie made me so afraid for 2.5 days and I don't want to experaince the feeling again cause I am saving it for DOOM3  ....

Now I would love to see part 2 but 60% chance I am not going to..........:( :(
Shuzer, thanks m8 for the link....:)

How can there be a second ring? I thought they solved the mystery in the first one. Unless the little girl is back because shes had a taste for blood and enjoyed it.

i love the effects used in the film and on this website

The ring 2:judgement day? In the future machines are killing all the humans and only samara...

Yea anyways I liked the first one, one of the funniest movies of all time. Ringu was better though, the whole thing with the old guys with rags on their heads. Classic. :rolling:

Not sure, but Samara's role is virtually non-existant in this movie.
It's an entirely new story, and the only reason this movie has a shot is because it's got the director of the Japanese films.

Was Ringu 2 any good?

I never understood why people call it Ringu.. it's simply "Ring" :)

But yeah, Ring 2 was great. It had an ambience and creepy atmosphere that's hard to capture.. I think the American The Ring did a decent job of recreating the atmosphere, but there's something about Ring/Ring 2 that's just creepy.

I know, it's just a way to better differentiate between the Jap/US versions. I know it's The Ring, but it's easier this way when some who hadn't seen/heard of the original might shorten the US version to Ring.

And it sounds cool :)

I'm definately going to see The Ring 2 in theatres (didn't get to see the first one in theatres, only on HBO :() The Grudge looks good too.

Whoa, The Grudge looks FUBAR!!! And I haven't even got sound here >_<

SMG (nice initials) better not screw it up :(

I was surprised by how many people said they lost sleep over it, and it haunted them for days. I had no trouble getting to bed the night I watched it...not trying to brag ;)

Maybe because the package of the Japanese version says "Ringu".

In any case, I probably wont watch Ringu/The Ring 2 because the first one was not that scary. It was mostly stupid virtually all the way through.

Ah, I forgot about the American release where they slapped Ringu on there. Go figure, wonder why..

Either way, did you see Ring or The Ring? Ring was lower budget and less CGish, had a more "real life" feel to it.

I as well:

i watched the japanese version of the movie before i watched the american and i have to say how unbelievably horrible the american version was compared to the japanese, the story in the japanese version had absolutely nothing at all to do with "horses" and it was more concrete i mean for the husband to have psychic powers might be a little stretching it but if you watch both of the movies the japanese version just seems more realistic and less dumbed down, anyone who's seen the ring needs to the see the japanese version it's just so much better

I didn't understand the horses bit. The only connection I could make was that -

the horses made noise at night which disturbed Sadako's slumber (she slept in a barn), so she put a curse/virus on them so they all died... something to do with drowning themselves

Wow guys, Sadako hates horses, big whoop. I don't think the plot could be truly complete without this wonderful addition.

Samara did sleep in the barn, and the horses did keep her up at night. The only thing horses had to do with her was that, and the other Morgan Ranch horses that ran away from her and drowned, as animals supposedely can sense when something is evil.

So there you have it, you had half of it. The other half was they went mad and drowned because of Samara's evil presence.
