Take a look...
floatingcitything.jpg

This is an Ecopolis, a floating city. It was recently designed to help those effected by climate change and a rise in sea levels. Since it floats, it simply rises with the water.

Can it work :|

ABANDON LAND, THE ISLAND IS CAPSIZING.
OH MY LAWD.

Looks like you could live on that land but you wouldnt really have anything recreational to do.

^ Lives 5 meters below the sealevel. Oh dear.

Looks it it would be fun to sink one of those with torpedoes. :)

Dumb question, wheres the actual city on that floating eco-hippy's wet dream? (lol at the wind turbines, that'll solve aallll of a modern high tech floating cities power needs I'm soooooooo completely sure...).

That looks about as practical as Papier-mache body armor.

I'm sure you could do alot of sailing.. And fishing.. And sailing.. And fishing.. And sailing... And fishing..

I think the bulk of the city is underwater.

Kevin Costner is allied with Mothra.

What do you do in a hurricane?
Oh yeah. You die.

I've always wondered what an absolutely gigantic floating city would be like.

And by gigantic, I mean super large, like the size of modern cities. The larger you go, the less impact the ocean will have on the movement of such a monstrosity as a visible nauseating effect.

and LOL at that video. They're so lifeless! Except for the drummer.

The scary thing Eejit is that there is whole generations of people who don't know what your referencing, entire populations of teenagers who don't know and in their ignorance don't care about the epic struggles of Godzilla.

Yeah, and who the hell's heard of Kevin Costner these days?

I expect that people on the Titanic had quite a pleasant time until the horrible, cold watery death.

People have been talking about stuff like this for years, but nobody has actually built one. In 30 years maybe, but we simply don't have the tech and money at the mo.

what if we made a hole in the floor of the sea?

... So it would all leak out the bottom?

I was hoping even some of the teenagers would remember Mothra vs Godzilla though, think they appeared in a Simpsons episode too.

My biggest fear in such a setting would be GOD DAMN SPLOICERS

what if we made a hole in the floor of the sea?

Theres a log in the hole in the bottom of the sea!

Oh shit!

Now theres a bump on the log in the hole on the bottom of the sea!

awwwww damn!

Now there's a frog on the bump on the log in the hole on the bottom of the sea!

Wait.. Look!

Now there's a tail on the frog on the bump on the log in the hole on the bottom of the sea!

Turn back!

There's a flea on the tail on the frog on the bump on the log in the hole on the bottom of the sea!

OH MY GOD!

There's a speck on the tail on the frog on the bump on the log in the hole in the bottom of the sea!

Ok, now.. Wait.. Nothing can be smaller then a speck. We can leave and never hear this gay-ass song again!

You know, instead of faffing about with floating cities...why don't we make self contained water tight cities on land, and wait for the rising sea levels?.

Everyone else, can, get this....

.....Move inland. :O
