Right, this is my 2000th post, but rather than make a pointless thread about it.... I thought I'd outline my plans for.... a state where the people are free, and the corporations get the worst deal :)... Ok, here goes:

There are no taxes for the common man. However, all is privatised. The schools are run by schooling corporations, the trains are run by train companies, and well, you get the idea... the plan is that each corporation will be trying to outperform it's rivals in providing good services, that we will end up with a well managed and efficiant state.

I have probably boosted my 'communist' quote by about 10 with this thread..... please ask any questions about my idea.... and I'll explain, and hopefully you will like my idea :)

The Peoples United Republic of Badgerstan!

Or the Peoples united Badgerstan....which has the initials P.U.B :p

Sounds like capitalism to me.

/me is shot by Badgers secret police.

I don't know what it will be called, comeon people... ask stuff about how the state works :P

How about State Of Badger? (S.O.B.)

Ok, how about the begging of the monoploy this system will cuase?

What is your position on freedom of speech.

/me hearing this Mitoboys secret police drag FarrowLeSparrow off into onld style black van.

Begging of the monoploy?

what?

I'm confused... it's nowhere near capitalism :P

Are you sure about that? Lots of corporations all competing to beat each other and eventually gain a monopoly. Which i believe is what mitoboy was suggesting.

Well it costs money to use schools. So lets use the school corporations as an example.

What if it is in a secluded area that only has one school? That corporation could charge as much as it wanted because it has no competition. Thus monopoly is formed.

You would have to keep a close eye on everything to make sure that they don't.

No, no, no. A corporation cannot own more than ten schools/train stations or hospitals... in the country :)

The corporations are taxed heavily, to pay for their own wages :)

EDIT: Synth, I have a country on nationstates.net... but you can't change em that much :P.

And yes Mitoboy, the state would keep an eye upon the corporations :)

Can I work as an agent in your secret police system?? :E

EDIT: Thanks for the link Synth

I made a couple of nations in nation states quite a while ago. I'm not sure how they are actually. Maybe i will go check. Looks like i haven't checked on them in too long. Oh well.

Right - I'ma boost MY Commie quota some as well by first saying that privitisation is not a great idea and most DEFINITELY not in education... All public services should belong to the people.
Just because you privitise a service, it doesn't mean that service becomes more efficient - in many cases the inverse is true because the corporations are serving themselves rather than the public and know that the government will bail them out in times of financial turmoil AND be reluctant to get rid of them because handing over the running of a network of trains or whatever to some OTHER corporation is a lot of hard work politicians and bureaucrats would rather not do. Besides, the state would also be crooked where the corporations' misdemeanours are involved. Come on Badger, you're a Brit and we both know what privitisation has done for our trains...
However I do believe that individuals taxes should be based far more heavily on income and large companies should pay more taxes than they currently do. A lot of taxes punish the poorer whilst the rich and the coporations are laughing. This is before even touching on governments' giving tax breaks to companies...:flame:
One other major gripe: The US needs to socialise its hospital system and scrap Welfare to Work and similar programs... America can afford to have a little Socialism in its society - it's such a shame that the Cold War damaged the vision of making things equal for all in society.

I always knew you were a commie.

Ive been wearing a wire...Ive also been copying everything that you have been writing. You're going down el Chi! To the California state penitentiaryiaryiary...ry that is.

Commie scum....All they do is share, and help their fellow man. It makes me sick.

On a more serious note. The US could do with something like the NHS, although, they would need to learn from our mistakes i think. Perhaps, they would see that a state run health service needs funding to run.

Yes, I also have been giving a lot thought to a similar idea. But I will only happen when I finish university and become a very talanted boilogist(maybe a gene enginer). In my fantasy, I will buy a big island somewhere near the US. It'll be called New Biotech(like New Microsoft in the story where a kid blew the brains of Mr. Gates with a wrench). Ofcource all this is still on paper.

I seem to have been editing an awful lot of your posts you know.

Oh well.

I'm sure you will achieve your dream...some day.......some day.

:p

So obvious yet so absent...

"Well-paid medical staff? Good lord I never thought of that... You mean to say that they don't like working ridiculoys shift hours for slave wages?"

Each one of them! You... You better stop doing that! You, freaking guy.

heh, my ultimate goal for a nation involves getting enough money to create a colony on Mars that "I" own and turning it into the capital for my new nation. The focus of the nation would be scientific research of all kinds, exploration and robotics. This would be done by having almost all jobs that do not involve the government, research, exploration, or robotic design to be left to thousands of robots instead. This would mean that almost every human is focused on actually contributing to the society in a much larger way, I mean think of the waste of having human pick up the garbage when they could instead be helping with research to create some sort of transporter or something.

The society would therefor require a VERY good education system, as well as a efficient immigration system to allow only those who will do something good for the country in.

*Sigh* one can only dream of such things though.

Without reading many of the replies here, I'd say it wouldn't work. Your economy is basically screwed sideways from the word go. Sorry.

By the way....could this colon on Mars with all its research into transporters and such, happen to open any portals to unseemly places?

You know i wrote a load of stuff about ideas in theory and practise etc. But then i decided i couldn't be bothered. Oh well.

Forum troubles a bit earlier.

Am I the only one to notice that the forums go through a problem every Monday?

lol the thing with privitisation with trains is that well there is not competition is there one company for each area thats why train service is awful

yeah, the point about this state is that the citizens don't pay anything for the services... the corporations are taxed to pay for their own wages :)

If the citizens don't pay for the services, where do the corporations get the money to pay the taxes?

ah.... you appear to have hit upon a major flaw in my plans.... ok, citizens pay for some things... :)

How about something like, citizens pay taxes, government decides what companies deserve the money to keep on going. Citizens are paid by those companies (jobs) so that they can continue to pay the taxes.

This has many flaws in it but it is just an idea.

Ok i cleared up tha tlittle mess ther with multiple posts.

Making a country isnt so eay eh?
