Now I don´t know if this is a Spoiler or not but anyway

****************SPOILER*************************

This little text is what I have managed to get from the info floating on the Web about HL2.

The beggining:
Gman saying:«Greetings Mr.Freeman.We´ve been rather busy in your absence»(as seen on 'G-man bink vd')
From there you are teleported for City 17 throw one those portals (lk the ones from the ending oh HL1)
City 17- one of the last citys of Earth---
remember Judge Dredd´s Megacitys- Major conglomerates of urban terrain like NY-NJ-PL were turned into 1 BIG city leaving only a few / or \ World war 3 or the Invasion from Xen have destroyed every city on earth excepting a few / or \ a Neocron-style citys that emerged from the ashes of the destroyed world , again only a few survive / or \ a secret atempt from the Govt. to create citys with cooperation with the Xen (atleast it explains the Combine-mix betwen Xen and Human)

Combine- As the name says they are junctions between something-But what?
One of the part is human so maybe a Matrix-like war has happened and they are cyborgs or maybe they are really what I say above and that´s a mix between Combine and Human.

You make Guerrila war against Combie invading troops in City 17 and other places ( i remember seeing an interview where Valve sead that all action happened on Earth but that doesn´t means whe can´t fight inAntarctida)

Now I think that the «chance to strike back » that Alyx refeers to at Kleiner´s Lab video should be some sort of a biological weapon that kills only Combine( the orange water) that eventually you´ll have to deployin The Combine(the big building eating City 17)

The administrator- He knows things about the Balck Mesa incident you don´t problably is the causing agent for your flashbacks(which are impossible to speculate about)

What do you think? I thought it was nice. If you think I´ve forgot some aspect of the history to speculate tell me and I will do my best.

Seems about right to me. Dunno about the orange water but I reckon the 'chance to strike back' is a weapon of mass destruction of a magnitude to make Bush sponteaneously combust.

There also some things missing, valve claimed that vortigons (alien slaves) will be actual allies. maybe the destruction of the nihilanth freed them and their larger cousing the alien grunts.

On opposing force there was a scientist and barney talking to each other
"what, what is that doc?"
"I dunno, i never seen that species before!?"
On the opposing force website, it states that adrian shepard is fighting a NEW alien race, is this going to be a three way battle.

The most startling thing to me at the moment is the alien Citadel (the one that eats away city 17). Is the number the city is given an indication to the amount of cities that have already been consumed by these alien behemoths.

ooooohhhh tense stuff. releaving some of the mist covering the HL2 story, in my opinion. only brings to light new questions (therefore making me want to buy the game 10 times more and making me want to smash the heads in of those hackers..... i would (probally) be playing it now if it werent for them)

Gabe comfirmed that the dlay was NOT due to the hax0rz it was cause they just didnt finish/like the game in its current state.

Really? Many magazines and pages are referring to the theft and the delay synonymously. The delay was NOT due to the theft? That is honourable of them to admit to.

No offence, but do you have a reference on that? An interview or something?

I think it should start with Gordon floating on a barrel in the middle of an ocean, blacking in and out, until bam! he hits a dock. By then he is feelin better, and pulls himself up. All this time he has no friggin clue of where hes been all this time (he doesnt know how much time has past) and he doesnt know how he got in the water. He looks up over the beach's cliffline to see the dark, smoggy, smokin City 17. He follows the dock until he comes across a body with a strangely familiar creature on it's head...

Ya I know its stupid, but im very, very bored

Yes, this is the 'Race-X', a race similiar to that of Xen which has been fighting with the Xen-ians for a long time now. They decided to use the chaos of the Black Mesa invasion to their advantage, and the reason Freeman never saw them is a mixture of the fact that he just missed them and when Shepherd first encounters them Freeman is already inside Lambda Labs. OpFor is on a different timescale to HL (early on in OpFor you see Freeman jump into the Lambda portal). The last stages of OpFor are when the Xen aliens have already been defeated and the Race-X have stepped in fully (which is why for the last few levels you fight only Race-X and Blackops). Shepherd eventually followed the Freeman archetype and destroyed the Race-X invasion force. In conculsion, they are not some cryptic clue for HL2, but simply an excuse for the OpFor team to put in new aliens. I'll be surprised if they appear in HL2.

Gabe comfirmed that the dlay was NOT due to the hax0rz it was cause they just didnt finish/like the game in its current state.

That's what they want you to think.

Opposing Force was supposed to add to the story a lot. it was done by the same guy, so i dont see why stuff introduced in Opposing Force, cant appear in Hl2.

It's somewhere in the Valve info thread, a hard thing to find in 26 pages :)
But there were multiple emails (and I believe one from ChrisD confirming the previous emails were real) that asked if the game would come out in 2003 even if the theft didn't occur, the answer was a clear no. It was also the first sign back in november that the holiday release wouldn't be made when he said that the game wouldn't come out anymore in 2003.

OT: I never finished Op4, so I don't know how the Race X thingy turned out. I'd like to see them in HL2, they were a nice mix between grunts and Xenians.
But where did Race X come from? Also from Xen, or another dimension?

It seemed like they were going trough Xen to Earth or something like that. The last level - «Collapsing Worlds» suggested something like that.

Did anybody else feel kind of sorry for the Alien Slaves/Vortigaunts?

Yeah, I never wanted to shoot them, they were kind of cute with their clumsy movements and voices :afro:
I also felt sorry for those houndeyes.... ;(

My theory on the story, you start out HL2 working for the Combine. This becomes apparent (to me anyway) at the end of HL1 and Opfor

g-man at the end of HL1: My...employers have authorized me to offer you a job.

He hesitated before saying 'employers' meaning that there was something untraditional about them, like they were alien. I know it sounds stupid but there are other pieces of evidence that suggest this too.

g-man at the end of Opfor: I have argued with my employers to preserve you for a time, you remind much like myself adapting to a particular situation to ensure survival (or something like that).

What did he mean by 'adapting'?, I think after the invasion of the aliens he opted to work for the Combine instead of being eliminated, thus ensuring his 'survival'. Also in one of the screenshots of HL2, a combine is seen molesting a citizen yet they are not firing at you. I think you work for them, but Alyx (or whoever) tells you whats really going on and you rebel against the combine.

we have a winner! (agrees)

it would make sence.

In Hl1 and op4 the G-man controlled this big bloody alien that you had to eletrocute/aritllery bomb etc.....

now if he works for the combine and we know they use striders it seems to fit that they can either Engineer allies or control them somehow....

Maybe Alyx is spreadin her propaganda, and she is infact the bad guy! A-HAH! Alyx IS MANIPULATING US!!!!11!!! THE COMBINE ARE GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!11!!

That would be so cool if one of the good guys ended up being a bad guy. Because of the facial animations it would make things so much more tense.

You mean a Garg?

I didn't know that the G-man controlled them. Where was this? I've probably forgotten it.

I'm not sure if he meant a Garg, but that raises another point: when you enter the "power up" episode you see the Garg attacking two marines, and the g-man is looking out from that room with the dying security guard. He is not even being attacked. Not sure if he is controlling them, but he is either their ally or whatever.

Dougy presented an interesting view on this if they 'program' their allies, then they probably do so to the alien slaves under them as well. I think the the 'chance to strike back at the combine' referred to in the kleiner's lab video is a way to disable to program or whatever, OR modify it so that the Xen aliens are your allies. Maybe this is crap I dunno.

that makes sense to me
very insightful

your thoughts have inspired me to play over HL1 and OpFor once again!

I would be cool if you could work side by side with Adrian Shepard half way through the game

I reckon Race X is the combine, either that or the combine is an organisation working for the NWO (New world order) who engineers xen species
