The Swedish army just bought the Battlefield 2 engine.

AA all over again just this time its SA. :/

Whats wrong with that Raziel-Jcd? If a country wants to develop a training sim, wheres the harm. I really doubt it will be anything like AA, AA is just a publicity stunt if you ask me.

To my understanding it will be used in training sims only, and not a public product.

Wow since our millitary is cutting down u probably will do "lumpen" in Battlefield 2 :)

I was just wondering about that...

I bet its a big conspiracy by some high up officials who just want to play games, and so instead of paying out some cash, they just "downsize" the army and use the money to pay for a game.

thats mean that the swedish will be the better bf2 players cuz they traing on it

Yeah why would they do something like this... They don't have an army to train damnit :E Less than 15k people get accepted every year now to do the training called "Lumpen". Used to be nearly 50k. They are shutting down alright.

In the future, all ways will be fought online. Sweden, therefore, is obviously the most forward-looking country.

I'll see you all on the Swedish Army Clan server, then?

lol I'd join the army if they started using that slogan :E I suppose you meant way = war.

I know the U.S. military uses Starcraft to help teach about commanding and flanking etc...
Good ol starcraft..
I know HL2 is being used by the army or something (I believe there was something in Pc Gamer US about that).

In the future if wars are fought online, the army will be hiring gamers like mad. Woot Woot!

Games won't prepare the soldiers for the real life/death battles though will they?

Online wars would rock....but Iraq probably doesn't even have 1 computer so don't count on it happening anytime in the next 2345436 trillion billion bazillon zillion years.

Nothing can, really. But they can...uh, prepare to be prepared. Or something...

Not the actual being shot and stuff, but they can help with tactics and so forth. Also, with these things they seem to like to immerse the soldiers a lot more with surround vision and sound. They use actual guns linked to the computer etc...Its just another level of training really.

Yeah, they don't just put the soldier in front a computer and tell them to play, y'know :p
There's lots of extra equipment to make it more realistic.

Great, now every Swedish soldier goes camping at the helicopter landing pad.

Maybe they are using the engine for jailbreak-handling-practice :)

I never had to do lumpen. I just said I was afraid of uniforms, and they let me off.

It was the triumph of my life-
