New laser will be powerful enough to rip apart space itself.
The hope is that a laser this powerful might actually be able to tear apart the vacuum of space-time itself, revealing the matter and antimatter underneath.

The Large Hadron Collider now has a sister called the "Europe's Extreme Light Infrastructure"! :naughty:

This just makes no sense to me.

That's because it was written by someone who doesn't know shit. I mean I barely know jack and I can tell that person is an idiot. That's how wrong that statement is.

If it makes you feel any better I've been doing a BSc in physics for the last three years and it makes no sense to me either.*

*It's quite possible this is due to the statement if fact not making any sense.

That doesn't matter, speculative space phenomenon are a different level of mind****ery. Not that regular physics is easy at all.

Matter and anti-matter under space-time?

What a load of horse shit spewed by a prize winning champion.

can't wait to see what happens in the near future!

The reason why you people don't understand it is because "it" doesn't exist yet. Well theoretically it does right now.
The point of all this is to try to explore some of the weirdness of quantum mechanics, which suggests that space is actually a giant party of random particles that are popping in and out of existence too fast for us to see.
As I understand most stuff in Quantum Mechanics is quite new and unproven.

In other words, infinite room for imagination!

The antimatter is ALWAYS in the shape of hool's avatar.

Well actually a lot of quantum mechanics is well known and verified. Doesn't stop it being weird as shit though.

So hl2.scientists are saying it's just as likely that fluffy bunnies will jump out of the laser in droves, but instead of regular fluffy bunnies they'll be ultra-sentient all-knowing fluffy bunnies with ONE EYE.
