Well, I just saw it, what did everyone think of it?
I thought it was great, they didn't cock it up like I'd feared

(spoilers) though the giant goddess thing wasn't needed. (/spoilers)

I completely agree. I liked Tia Dolma and Fishface being lovers, but her being Calipso was just so... unnecessary. At a guess, I'm gonna say the only reason they put that in was to give us the big ****off maelstrom for the end battle.

Anyway, great movie, excellent wrap up to the trilogy. I give it an 8. For reference, I also give the first movie an 8, and the second movie a 9.

I saw the second half on some video site....:cheese: When I get the chance and the crowds die down I will see it. I thought the movie was very good. Sad ending though still saying damn it. :( But hey at least we got to see Keira's hot legs while have an orgasm in a Disney movie! :D

There was a sence after the credits - it wans't such a sad ending after all :D

Ok, but why can't the good guys win for once?

The first was still the best for me, with the second being the funniest. The third was good, but i thought i dragged on a bit in places. There were some very cool elements, like Sparrow going crazy seeing loads of himself as his crew in Davy Jones's Locker, and the Pirate court phrase, "This is madness!", "This is politics...".

The ending was epic though i must say.

Ill give it an 8/10

I thought bloom and and knightly were gonna get it on at the end, i was like, "this is 12A right?". Plus one of my mates came up with a funny phrase afterwards, "So he has to sail about for 10 years, guiding souls to the next life, and only gets to bang Knightly for one day? Pretty crappy schedule if i do say so myself. Cant he have off-days or something?"

lol

I was so hoping he would say "This is Sparta!" but he didn't. Ah well.

Good film though, but should've been longer ;)

I actually yelled that in the theatre before he got to the "this is politics" response.

Bonus points for the Keith Richards cameo.

But honestly, I didnt think it was that great. I think it was partly because I couldnt get over the physical impossibilities, like running from side to side of a ship makes it turn over. The first movie atleast made sense in itself... kind of. I hate things like at the beginning when she dumps the coals on him to get away and then later you find out that they cant feel hot or cold. Parts of the third movie really dragged on for no reason too. Some of the action scenes were bad ass but all in all the plot sucked and the movie made little to no sense.

The first one was the best, 9/10, the second one was worse, 7/10, and the third one was awful, 5/10. I hope they dont make a fourth but knowing disney they will. Damn disney and their sequel making.

Its set in a world where you can reach the afterlife by traveling through the north (or south) pole mate. It doesn't have to be realistic. :P

I have no idea why realism is being brought to the argument, a women turned into a giant women, then into a bunch of crabs, before making a dock off maelstrom for crying out loud.

It's a ****ing fantasy, what do you expect? The first movie made sense? Pirates stole treasure which was cursed and caused them to live as zombies forever? Hello?

I liked it overall. I got really confused in the middle when everyone was making deals with everyone else and I couldn't keep track of it all. I would have liked more ships involved in the badass maelstorm fight. And I was kind of confused about why Calypso didn't go apeshit on the pirates or davy jones or anyone. End battle was kickass in a 1 on 1 kinda way, but a huge battle and an enormous storm would have been even more kickass.

btw, what did I miss after the credits? Did anybody see the bonus scene?

She caused the maelstrom, so I think she was just letting things happen. She hated the pirates for locking her in the human body but she hates jones for telling them how. At the same time, the pirates freed her and she loves Jones, so she just let them fight and whoever won.

**********************SPOILER WARING*************************

It was a scene 10 years later, where knightly (who apparently doesnt age at all over 10 years) was waiting with her 10 yr old kid at a beach. Bloom came out of the water and they smiled. The end.

I know! Im not saying that its not realistic, Im sayint that it doesnt even make sense within itself with its own rules. If the movie sets a concrete law like, they cannot feel hot or cold because they are cursed, then hot coals cannot be used as a defense. Its poor writing. Things like Harry Potter and LOTR are fantasy, but they make complete sense within themselves by following the rules and laws they set in their fantasy world.

Yeah they have a son. The designers say that that sence was sopposed to say that he was free to come on land as Elizzy didn't cheat on him, but it didn't fit in. So yeah, happy ending.

Whoa, it wouldn't have anything to do with cheating. When Jones had gone on land, Tia Dolma / Calypso hadn't been there waiting. He got really ****ed off and stopped doing his job.

So when he stopped ferrying the dead like he was meant to, and started actually killing people, the curse kicked in where he became fishyfaced.

Tia Dolma says that she wasn't there because it's her nature. She speaks in the second movie of Jones's lover as a woman as harsh and untamable as the sea, and that's what she really was.

Because Swan was faithful (nothing to do with cheating), they did get to see each other every 10 years, and used the time (ahem) wisely. ;)

I liked it overall, though I thought it felt "forced" at some points, in that it was trying too hard to be an "epic" ending to the trilogy.

As for the whole "step on dry land once every 10 years" thing, every other person in the film has a bleedin' boat! Use the damn things!

I did like the pirate council bit, though I was rather disapointed that Ahmed Dajlili (or however you spell his name, you know, the Iranian Comedian) got shot so quickly. As in *one line* "Cool! Ahmed Dajlili is in it!" *bang* "bollocks..."

Though I did get to yell "thats a huge bitch!" during the Calipso scene. Which was nice. I was a little too slow on the "Sparta" bit though, which was disapointing.

And I also wanted Chow Yun Fat to doosh some people in the face with some hardcore Kung Fu, so I was a bit let down by the lack of that.

But overall a good film and well worth a watch. Better than the second, not as good as the first.

So your telling me Knightly had sex with a dead guy and had a son from a person that is dead? Does that make sense? Like a half zombie/human kid? :x

i thought it was terrible, too many people switching sides going on in the beginning and wtf was going on at the end??

A maelstrom, a hole in the ocean boats spinning symmetrically into it, cannon ball fights, lead to rope attacks, leads to playing swords with masts, then jack and davy jones had the sword fight on the top of the mast (that's amazingly impossible balance), while two other people are getting married?? Then it all ends with a parachute ride to the top of this hole?

Pretty amazing...pretty unbelievably amazing...pretty shitty really.

This film was garbage. 3 hours of mush, trying and failing to cash in on Johnny Depp. Boring for me I'm afraid. Utterly tedious.

I'm still trying to decide whether I like the first or the third better.:dozey:

Failing? The first movie brought in over 300 million dollars. The second brought in over 400. And this one has done more than like 115 the first weekend, and is estimated to surprass the 400 million mark. I'd say they "cashed in" just fine.

Money money yada yada yada. Doesn't make it a good film.

I got about halfway through...bored to tears. I'll probably watch the rest at some point.

Seeing this today and am very excited! Can't wait to see where I fall in the opinion matrix, though I kind of have a feeling where I'll be...:D.

Watched the first hour just now. I'm enjoying it so far - pretty typical Pirates of... stuff which I do so love because I find the films very entertaining. It's nice to just sit back and watch a cheesy movie set amongst some great set pieces (save the actual sea, course) with some cool-ass fighting going on.

Will watch the rest tomorrow night.
