Anyone else experience it?

I know what it is, pretty sure at least anyway.

Since tapping W twice also makes you sprint (not just shift), when you get a slight FPS drop (even small tiny one) or lag/jerk a little bit while walking forwards, it cuts your held keystroke into two. So it perceives this as a double tap.

Then you get stuck in this weird half run half walk, where your gun keeps going down, etc. You can make it stop by looking straight down at the floor and then back up, but it can happen at the worst times.

If I play a server with all 64 people, I get it like crazy nonstop. I just get it once every 20 minutes or so on a 32 person server, though.

I don't get it.

Maybe its sound precaching or something that's causing the stutter? either way.. try re-assigning the key, that will at least bypass the symptom.

There is nothing in options to reassign double tap W sprint.

That's what pissed me off so much.

Hmm... Have you tried digging around in the config files? there are a lot of scripts though, it'll probably take some time.

What speed is your HDD + how much RAM do you have?

Well, theres no problem there (ruling out malfunction of components).

Have you tried playing with the sound settings?

The reason I'm guessing sound is because theres no major graphical change when you start moving, but there are sound changes.

And if all else fails, isolate the cause by putting all settings on minimum, and ramping them up one at a time until you replicate the problem, then you'll know where to focus your repairs.

This happened to me all the time yesterday but since then I've put my settings down a bit and it stopped. I have yet to play on a 64 player server though.
