went to AMERICA this weekend ..stopped at a gamestop and as I walked in the clerk said "Can I help you with something?" and I said "not unless you're willing to break street date on GTA4" he said "sure bro" then tossed me a copy and we did a high five ..in reality he looked at me not knowing how to take it and said "no we cant do that" so then I kneed hiim the balls and ran off with a display copy ..actually he said "no we cant do that ...but we're having a midnight release tommorrow ..the line up starts at ten, there's a few preoder ocpies left ....would you like to pre-order" and I said "no thanks, I'm canadian ..we dont have xboxes in canada" ...he looked at me puzzled and went back to stacking games .. further cementing the idea that gamestop employees are actually humourless zombies


why the hell hasnt anyone broken the street date yet? stern is very disappointed
 
ya but in the land down under tommorrow is today ..so tommorrow I too will be able to purchase it but it will be the next day for you

Fixed for maximum insultification.

Anyways, stores like Gamestop are the last places that are willing to break street dates. I've found that it's best to exploit the apathy or ignorance towards street dates found in stores like Sears and Target.

Btw, you know we do have a GTA IV sub-forum right?
 
I could have told you straight off before you went that you weren't going to get any stores to break the street date, so it was pointless in going.

But it's funnier this way.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA, and there is one mall in the city that has a EB games and a Gamestop in the same mall. Gamestop is one level below EB games. So you don't have to go to AMERICA, to go to Gamestop.

I didnt go in the hopes of finding a copy; that would be stupid .. it was my last stop on the way home and it wasnt for gta4


AMERICA should alwys be capitilsed ..actually for some reason I thought of this musical when I wrote it ...because I'm gay like that

You just have to be friends with certain people in the distribution chain :)
 
Well, if you went to NYC then you could have found one in a little electronics and cell phone store by Madison Square Garden. They get loads of stuff early and break street dates like they are going out of style. Too bad for you if you missed the city this time!!
 
ya the wife wouldnt have gone for a 12hr detour to pick up a game I couldnt play until sometime late this week (working nights- deadline is here)

Hahaha! 'Nuff said. I am just glad that it will be out tonight and I will be home from work tomorrow. Luckily it is a quiet time for us so a day off is no biggie right now.

My plan is to pay it of completely on my way home tonight (around 6.30) and then go back a little after 11 to get in line or do whatever I have to get my copy quick at midnight. The store is small though so I expect it to be an annoying, sweaty, smelly madhouse. Not really looking forward to it except that the game will be so much fun once I get it home!!
 
but tommorrow you wont have to wait in line ..but I guess since you have tommorrow off you'll play tonight ..I'm jealous

Heh, yes, I will play tonight when I get home and then get up early and play some more. Should be quite fun. Too bad I also have some errands to run on my day off as well that threaten to eat into my playtime!! :frown:
 
i got a ticket this morning doing 80 in a 55....im pretending the cop who pulled me over is every cop in the game......nice knowing you trooper

Hahaha! Exactly. That is the fun of these games--making every violent thought you ever had a (virtual) reality! Good times. Life has no resets, but GTA IV sure does!! :thumbs:

ya well they always automatically assume I'm there buying for my kids (sometimes) meaning I havent a clue ..they always try to upsell me shit but then the tables turn when I ask them a question that reveals I'm a gamer like .."are you just an ass or do you just want me to teabag you in front of everyone here?"

Hehe, i tried a few stores myself out of desperation.I saw Sears listing it as available, so i hoped into the car and drove 7 miles for nothing.I canceled my Newegg pre-order but i finally managed to reserve a copy at my local Best Buy in the end.They have a midnight release available as well but i'll be too ****ing tired by the end of the day.Tomorrow, will be a very enjoyable day though. :)
 
I asked a guy at EB if it was coming out for PC and when.

He tried to sell me a WoW shirt.
