This experiment should be "PR'ed" more. They made a movie of it called "The Wave" a while ago i think.
Anyways, its in cases like this that we get reminded sometimes how frightening humanity can be.

Its amazing how the "will to belong to a certain group" often overrides logic and reason.
For instance on US TV i am watching the Democrats and Republicans go at it, and they actually arent caring what the other says at all (doh).
They're focussed on "what do i need to say.." or "what do i have to make the opponent look like.." in order to win.

They're there to win the discussion, not to "figure out whats best for the country by discussing it".
In alot of ways i see the same thing with many discussions in real life or even here on the forums.
People often are so obsessed with supporting a group-nation-or political ideal, that they lose sight of the point.
Anyways, thoughts?

yep, thats human nature for ya :sniper:

It's not an easy thing to do, admitting you are wrong...makes you look weak. I try not to label myself as much as possible.

Oh my god... I just HAD to post in this thread to be part of the group.

And I don't care if the mods think it is spam or not.

It's not... but I wouldn't care if it was!

No.... must... cleanse... myself....

I fell victim once... then again, we (being my class) were assigned to Proposition and Opposition, so we didn't really have a choice.

I've read somewhere that this guys story is a bit exaggerated.

yeah, must be, but still leads into how little ppl care as to how "much sense something actually makes" -> being part of "the gang" is more important :S

yep, we watched the wave in psychology

it's a perfect example of how facism works.

Hey, I've read that. Two years ago. It was a really good book.
