i'm putting all of my question into 1 thread because people don't like me making a bunch of threads so check this thread often. ok, my first question: the motherboard i'm buying for my new computer can only handle a MAX of 1GB of RAM, will that be enuf to keep up w/ the times (upgrading to) for a while?

EDIT: forgot the RAM part

ugh probably not for newer games, thats getting to be pretty much the minimum requirement for newer games

Bass, you have no idea what you're tlaking about. 512MB of RAM is plently for Games of Today and tomarrow. 1024MB of RAM will plently for game for years to come.

3dmodleing however....

actually I do, I simply misread. I thought he had said that he had a 1ghz cpu, my bad

But don't you want to feel powerfull and confident you can run like 8 games at a time with 1gig ram :D

In what parellel universe do you need to run 2, let 8 games at the same time? ;)

I do !!! If your a pro you can like to 8 frags every 25 seconds switching from CS, to UT2k3 and jumping around lol :p ... thats god like :)

nw909 in win xp we have this thing called Alt+Tab and if you hold it you can choose what window to open ;)

ok, question number 2: how can you tell if your new Case's front USB ports are compatible with your mobo?
In a computer, everything is standard. Even the USB cables. Its just a matter to connect them to the correct pin, that can be tricky :)

ok, got another question. i just downloaded sum new bios off of the asus website, now how do i load them onto my asus mobo?

OK! got another question for u guys! should i get 9500 n-pro and take my chances on softmodding it to 9700 and OC it to 9700 pro? or just stick w/ the current sighting on 9600 pro?

My personal opinion... 9600 PRO there are no "if's" then.. You get good performance no matter what!

Hey Hunter just wanna give you some personal experience. I too just went through the whole deciding what comp parts to buy. I had a budget of $750 dollars and I'll list my parts then just talk about my feelings towards the performance so far.
Made by ATI Radeon 9600 PRO
AMD Barton 2500+ Retail
Abit NF7 Nforce2 mobo
80 gig Western Digital 7200 RPM 2 meg buffer HDD
1 stick 512 megs 3000 DDR RAM Geil
Sony DVDrom/CDrw
Crappy $50 Raidmax case

First off this system kicks the ass of any current game you can throw at it so thats pretty much a non point :p

I also considered getting a 9500 n/p and doing the soft mod but as of now getting an L shaped memory config is very rare and you need that to do the softmod. so its pretty much a craps shot with your money. I chose not to do it and i guess so have you.

I don't know if this would help you but i went with 1 stick of 512 ram so I could add another stick later when it would actually be useful in games because right now no games actually will benifit from 1 gig of ram.

I guess that kinda sums up what i wanna say but now i'm wondering if you are gonna build a new comp or if I just made an ass of my self cause I forgot what your original message said. Oh well either way hope I helped.
