So people won't spam with post that has 1 letter or 1 word in it.

The second is so that you know that person read your PM.

For PMs you can just click "cancel" when viewing or sending a PM. Many people may think it rude to recieve a PM with a reciept, so i click "cancel"

It's a six character limit cause months ago we'd all complain that we couldn't write sorted for every reported post we dealt with. So it got lowered from ten.

It's a random number plucked out of the air by Starmonkey when we had a bet to see who would notice it had changed first.

It's supposed to be ten but somebody can't count
