I've had it for a while but now it's gotten to the point where it is intollerable. After a lightning storm a while ago my modem stopped working, I guess the phonelines where struck. Ever since I got a new modem my connection has been progressivly getting worse, stopping working completly at one stage. What basicaly happens is the connection works fine, but it stops working every minute or so so I get a minute of connection and then 2 minutes where no web page will load at all and no bytes are being sent or recieved. This makes reading this forum and especially posting painful. I am going insane. The modem is only 2 months old and I was told that it would work on any Dell Windows XP computer, what should I do?

Call your ISP? In my experience, ISP call centres are very helpful and will ususally help with your problem efficiently.

I was on dial-up at home and my modem was really insanely slow and got disconnected a lot. It was actually the phone line that was bad not the modem or anything... there was this one weekend where the phones at home stopped working. So the phone company or the city or whoever takes care of that had install new phone lines.

I get disconnected randomly at all times, done everything on my end to see if any was hardware issues, and its not. I just think Time Warner has crap cable lines out here tbh.

EDIT: Ironically it just disconnected after this post, wonderful!

You say your modem stopped working and was replaced. Did you replace anything in your computer as well?

If the modem was damaged in the storm, perhaps your computer suffered simultaeneously?
