I just bought a new X2 processor and I have a half tube of leftover thermal paste that came with my Vantec socket 478 CPU fan a year and a half ago. The tube of paste has been sealed since then and it seems to still be usable. Would there be any reason why I should use that half tube of paste on my new X2? Also, does anybody know if AMD puts thermal paste in their packages? That would save me from needing to go out and buy some.

Generally there is a pad on the heatsink (which you would want to remove if using grease). I have yet to see them include thermal grease. You should be OK using what you have leftover. Just put like a rice grain size on there. It spreads thin and cover it well when you put the heatsink down on the CPU.
