ok, i've had my amd64 3000+ (754) for some time now with stock cooling. I saw poseyjmac replied to a thread about oc'ing it. He suggested to me a thermalright xp-90, but the phrasing on newegg and thermalright's website has me confused. It states the compatibility with:

AMD: Athlon64 FX 3200+ (socket 939/940)/Athlon64 3200+ (socket 754) and above

so, is my chip not covered? it doesn't appear to be, so what would you guys recommend to oc my chip?

thanks in advance.

edit: here is newegg's website with the product

Yeah it will fit. I have one on my A64 3000+ (Socket 754). ;)

If you got the money why not watercool? I OCed my 2.4 to 2.7 no problem.

PSSST...

Oh and btw, in that vid you sent, I love your case, and the blue coolant looks awesome.

So is this a very good heatsink (i mean compared to others available)? Is the fan combo worth getting?

It's an awesome heatsink.

Around this time of year, my room gets about 82 F, but my proc idles around 34 C.

I bet if I reapplied my AS5 (I kinda left some spots this time) I could idle closer to 30.

And I shoot to about 40 C during a 3Dmark05 run, so i've still got some OC headroom.

I live in scotland so not very hot :P , but it does get pretty warm sometimes.
