On a related note, Thief 3 will not work on my PC, nor will SC: chaos theory. Thief 3 did not want to work on my previous machine, which leads me to believe it has something to do with windows.

If they can recreate the story and atmosphere and level design of 1 & 2 then sure go for it but if Deadly Shadows is the best they can offer then stop the necroing and just create new franchises.

If they're totally different PC's (different installs of Windows), then no, it's not. If it's the same PC but with just different hardware put in it (but you didn't wipe the HDD), then it's possible you have a botched configuration (but sort of unlikely).

I would much rather think it's a hardware issue that's conflicting.

To the OP: It should be sweet. I like the concept of the Thief games but I got annoyed at all of the ones I played. I WANT to be a fan ;)

They are totally different PC, but both have XP. Also both game did work on my previous pc at an earlier time, then later suddenly did not. And when I tried to install them on my new PC, thinking it was a hardware issue with the old PC( which played other games that could run on it fine), the games did not want to work.

previous pc:
2.4 athalon, 512mb ram, 9800 pro 128mb

new:
q6600, 2gb, 7900 gs

It'll need to move on somewhat. Thief was great back in the day, but I found the last rather dull.

Another case of Lambda getting out of date news from GameSpot :p

This would be great if it was to occur, really hope it is Thief 4 :D

WANT

I'm a sucker for Thief and Deus Ex, and therefore everything that went through Ion Storm Austin. They're the whole reason I'm in this industry, and it was an ironic and sad moment for me when they were closed down.

I'm going to have to re-play Shalebridge Cradle tonight in tribute...

This has unfortunately been the same case with me. I picked up the first two games but I honestly never played past the first two levels in either. Although I did enjoy what I played of Thief 3, but too bad it shared the same PC-crippling engine Invisible War had.

I really want to enjoy the series.

Brrrr, Shalebridge Cradle. I still enjoy the third, it's a shame it was nerfed for the xbox. We shouldn't have that problem this time around, though.

The guy who voices Garrett better come back.

Yeah saw this earlier this week on the TTLG forums.

Would be great if true, love Thief and Garrett is a great character.

I agree that this would be AWESOME. I thought The Dark Mod was all I had to look forward to, but this would be great, esp. if they couyld keep the same freedom and atmosphere (and voice-acting). Some of those guards were so damn funny.

This series seems like one of those games i should absolutely love, but for some reason I dont. I remember playing the first few missions in the first game over and over because I thought they were awesome, but once they introduced zombie ghoasts it went from awesome game to totally lame. I played Thief 3 a bit, but like Absinthe, the engine just annoyed the shit out of me and I just didnt feel like playing again after the first session.

I don't see the problem with the engine. It ran well on my laptop with a mobility Radeon 9600 four years ago...

It's still one of the most technically advanced games out there. I still play it through once or twice a year.
