Think this is screen tearing... please help!

So I'll be in the middle of a game of something, for example I was just in RDKF, and my system locks up and I have to press the reset button on my PC.

I think it's screen tearing, the image does tear a little bit.

Can anyone help? How can I solve this?

I don't have ragdoll kung fu, but if it has a VSync option turn it on.

Also yeah, tearing doesn't cause system crashes.. all it means is the monitors vertical refresh is out of sync with what the graphics card is feeding it AFAIK

Why your machine locks up I'm not sure. What other things do you have running?

Yeah frame tearing is only visual and has no effect on the PC.

It sort of messes up the screen a little and you canb't do anything except reset

Since you have dual core perhaps the windows scheluder is causing a problem.
Try starting the game, hit ctrl alt del and select the processes tab. Find the game's exe and right click on it. Select "Set Affinity" and deselect one of the cores so it doesn't get confused to which CPU core it should run on for that app. Otherwise I would check drivers either newer or older.

hmm, I actually left it a while and it comes up with a STOP message. Could this be RAM?
