Thinking of getting Madden 06

I was thinking of getting Madden for the 360 but i don't know any of the rules of American Football, just wondering if anyone knows if the game itself teaches you the rules, or will i be needing some kind of book on the subject? I only ask as i know football games (Fifa etc) don't teach you the rules of football, so i don't expect Madden to be any different...

I don't know the rules either, but NFL games are still sort of fun when you do the throws.

You basically choose from a picture which corresponds to a play. Then you just follow what that picture shows. Some of them will let you throw the ball, but some will be runs, and you just follow the arrows.

To make a throw, they normally label the players that you can throw to, then you just press the correct key to throw the ball to them.

There are 4 downs, which basically means 4 tries to get over 10 yards up the pitch.

If you do get Madden I'd recommend turning off QB Vision at least until you get the hang of the game because that'll just make it more complicated for you without more understanding of the rules.
