My wireless router, a WRTG45 (I can find out which version number, but am too lazy to do so now), has been working fine for me, except every so often (be it weeks or days between incidents), it'll decide to do god knows what, subsequently disconnecting my wired and unwired computers from my network (I can't even access the router via web browser (IE http://192.168...) from my wired PCs).

It's rather annoying, considering that to fix the problem, I have to walk upstairs, climb through my moms room (full of crap), dig through her closet space, unplug the router, unplug the cable modem wait a few seconds, plug in the modem, plug in the router, and wait to make sure the router boots succesfully.

Then I have to go BACK downstairs, and check all the PCs to make sure that they can access the network properly.

I was wondering if maybe installing a third party firmware on my router would fix the problem.

Hell, I want to know anything I can do to fix this.

DD-WRT is what I use. It's got tons of options and features. So much better than the shitty default Linksys firmware. I had to restart that thing like five times a day before switching over to DD-WRT - now it's like twice a week, tops, and that's only because there's a lot of crap between the router and my little WiFi adapter.
