I have here "The Speeches of Henry Fountain Ashurst of Arizona" published by Sen. Barry Goldwater. Henry Fountain Ashurst was Arizona's first senator, and my great great uncle.

"No man is fit to be a Senator... unless he is willing to surrender his political life for great principle."
- Henry Fountain Ashurst

The inscription on the first page says " To my dear nephew, Aaron Edward Ashurst, with all good wishes from his uncle Henry Fountain Ashurst Nov. 26, 1953." Aaron's my grandpa

I'm starting to read it, although my great great uncle was a democrat, he was an FDR's democrat and not the type of today. Just skimmed through some stuff now but he sounds very articulate. This'll be a good read. Anyone else have politicians in the family?

I think Screaming Lord Such was a second-cousin of my stepsister :D

But that sounds cool :) wish I had some political history

whats the differance between todays democrats and the old ones.

i know a former prime minister of Ireland, garret fitzgerald on first name terms
