Our HL2 community has been destroyed since this leak. I dont know if it's coz people are pissed off, or if it has simply drawn too many idiots to one place, but it's completely rooted. I cant even stand to watch these boards anymore.

Seriously, there are still people pissed at valve for delaying the game. I mean, how stupid are these people? Read a little more, folks, and you'll understand, maybe. How can anyone in their right mind be pissed at valve, who have done nothing but strived to bring us a brilliant game, which was damn near destroyed by the very people they were trying to please. Valve hasnt delayed the game simply to piss you people off, you know. The world doesnt revolve around you and your desire to get HL2 on your PC.

I dont think I'll be coming back here again, I just cant stand it. Oh, and dont bother witht he 'oh no we've lost a headcrab *sarcasm*' shit. I've been following HL2 as much as anyone here, and have been playing HL for as long as anyone here, seeing as I got it when it first came out, years ago.

I'm still 100% behind valve. I'm dissapointed we have to wait, but I'm taking it in my stride, I have confidence, and I'm still eager as hell to wait for the (full, real) game to come out.

I think this community is very much alive and kicking. Sure, there are asshats, there are always going to be asshats! Sooner or later this will stop. Sooner or later this madness will end and we will all go back to being positive and happy again.

Sure, something like this is going to draw in allot of people that are following this thing. and some of them are morons, some of them are not. Some will stay, some will leave. The ones that will leave are always the asshats.

Lighten up! *fixes the pipe and lights the tobacco* ... see? ;)
 
The doom leak kicked up a falling doom community and this leak has been positive, although the leak is bad for valve and alot of us wont get it just to stay loyal, its great that something can keep us amused while valve finishes the game.

I know my opinion sucks, and I hate myself for it because I genuinely feel bad for Valve, but its only a game - and its something I like to look at.

Im not downloading it, Im simply looking at pictures, Im doing no harm regardless.

There are plenty of others out there for the choosing.

I think people just need to grow up a little bit.
 
The asshat ratio went from 8:1 to 2000:1 after the leak. Just take a look at the forum, it's sad.

Seriously this game kicks so much ass that even this alfa provides you much fun than 90% of the games released this year.

Aftre seeing the crippled alfa you can be sure that this game is going to be a revolution......

But remember nothing you do will stop people from playing the beta. Learn to live with it.

Actually I blame more on bad PR from Valve more than I do the actual leak. Valve has this great community but when you think about it, they are too quite and have lost credibilty with the fans.

They shouldn't have had any pc's with the net connected to them containing the source, if they needed to transfer stuff then they just should have set up a lan.

then there's the few days before release lets tell them it's delayed.

I don't trust valve anymore.
But i'm not whining about it, it happens with about every game (delay).
 
I don't think the community is destroyed, merely hiding.
Whenever something like this happens many peopl lay low until it blows over, and in a week or so things will become somewhat normal again.
 
I don't believe it the OT forum isn't even safe anymore, the thread poster is correct. HL is the biggest game community, but bigger doesn't mean better, quite frankly these forums are a mess and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I can tolerate complaining, stupidity and flameing but only when there are constructive, informative or amuseing converstations mixed in with it and it doesn't take so much effort to find it that reading these forums becomes a chore.

The worst thing is the posters that would normally keep the quality of the forum at a bearable level have either stopped posting or have let there standards slip.
