Whenever I try to launch a game, I get this message. I've tried deleting ClientRedgistry.blob, which worked a few times but not anymore. The only way to make the games run is to re-name the folder in the Steamapps folder, then run it. This works without fail so far, but it's getting very annoying having to re-name a folder everytime I want to launch something. I've just tried moving my Steamapps folder, deleting and reinstalling Steam then moving Steamapps back in, and that had no effect.
One of the suggestions on the Steam support page for this problem was to make sure the Steam folder is not set to read-only. So I opens the properties for the Steam folder, and Read-only is checked. I uncheck it, then OK the properties box. When I open properties again, Read-only is checked again. The same applies with any folder in Program Files. I'm thinking it could be something to do with this, seeing as I've tried most other solutions.

Has anyone else dealt with a similar problem here?

Right-click the game in Steam, choose Create Desktop Shortcut, then launch the game from the shortcut.
