Every since I first saw Anarchy and Morrowind I dreamed for a day when I could play an FPS online with thousands of other players.

Dunno about you guys, but this is the evolution of gaming, right here.

After reading about it, its nothing like planetside, its not a basic fps where you just pick your weapons then go kill, its a deep rpg as well. :)

Does this game "roll dice" to decide if you hit your target, or does it actually require skill instead of leveling?

Nah its like Neocron, it requires actual skill to hit someone and not luck like most of these MMO's.

Edit/ Of course you'll still have to level to use better things and be harder and shit. If its anything like neocron's skill system then you have your own resists, which is your choice how you set them up, depending on how much of your combat skill you have depends how good you use your weapons. (e.g in NC you got HC (heavy combat) for heavy wep's so with 220 HC you'd use HC weapons better than someone with 180 HC) So its so you can't be a uber hybrid and have every single gun at your disposal for your specific class. Well you can, but you wont be very effective in combat.

I cant wait, I wanna be an engineer.

Don't get your hopes up, Matrix Online and SW: Galaxies seemed so neat in the beggining....

I played SWG for a long long time and loved it. Not seen Matrix online, looks kinda ok, nothing that will keep my interest very long.

What's wrong with the matrix? Have you played it?

The thing with those games is that they both have large pre-game mythos fanbases to draw from, and the developers and publishers know this. They don't have to worry about creating the best products to be competitive in the gaming market, because they know that they are going to be selling enormous numbers of units simply because fans want to reenact their SW or Matrix fantasies, and the truth is that for a lot of people that is all they want to do regardless of how poor the actual game is in terms of content, bugginess etc. These are fans, rather than gamers, and that is what these products are aimed at.

Occasionally you do get good film related games (the alien predator games for example), but generally most of them are simply generic shite (Catwoman, spiderman, men in black etc), which over enthusiastic 12 year olds badger their parents to buy, then get forgotten after a couple of hours of mind numbing tedium.

Twilight War looks interesting, I just hope they avoid too many Mad Max cliches (mohawk haircuts, big shoulder pads and general wankerdom) and bed the game down into a gritty but plausible post apolcalpse world.

Notice how in the matrix films a lot of the characters insist on wearing sunglasses all the time, even in dark cellars or a night? That's because the Wachowski brothers, think sunglasses are cool. The Wachowski brothers also think being 30+ men it's cool to wear baseball caps backwards, all the time. Neither of those things is remotely anywhere near cool. Their game is shaping up to be as one dimensional as their fashion sense.

Kadayi. In the film Matrix the actors used sunglasses too block there eyes, as they blinked like mad when fireing automatic weapons, loseing the idea that they where very calm and very used to firearms. So they just made everyone wear them. Wachowski people did'nt make them cool, as they did not make black leather coats cool, stupid people who watched the film did.

K?

I hate that. Whenever I go to the shooting range I always blink while shooting. It's kinda annoying. I try not too but I can't. it just happens.

Well, it'll probably come out in 2007 or something, so we have a while to wait.

LOL, I'm on about the general periods of plot exposition and TBH aside from the lobby scene, there was more kung fu going on than anything else in the films, but it didn't stop them from going Sunglasses mad at the best of times.

Well they are made-up, meant to look "cool" characters and the outfits they wore was "cool" looking and shades do look "cool" on the right person wearing the appropiate clothes.
