So half life episode two is out next wednesday on steam....right? If so where the hell is all the hype! I'm not just talking about this forum (though this forum seems a little quiet) but on other PC gamer forums just doesn't seem to be much excitment for it.

This is the first half life game/episode etc where I am really excited but have succesfully avoided video clips/ trailers (apart from the the trailer after episode one) because the experience was spoilt a little because I watched too many video clips and trailers for both half life 2 and episode one.

So I actually know very little about episode 2 and yet I'm really excited because it's another chapter in the half life trilogy so why the hell is there very little hype for this game?
 
If you aren't hyped for the Orange Box then what are you doing here?

I can't speak for the rest of the Internets but I think you underestimate the hype on this site, its just that the 10th has snuck up on a lot of people. That and there hasn't been much new media for ages (good thing for me - I don't want to know).
 
I try to keep my mind on other things. If I am really hyped for something, it seems to take AGES to get here even if it is only a week away.
 
I cant wait to play TF2 to be honest. And for some reason, i want to play Portal more than EP2 aswell...i dont know why :S. Maybe its because i know once its finished its finished and ill have to wait all over again..meh

Might stay up for the grand opening if its being held where i am, hopefully game will open at midnight for the sale.
 
It's out in the US on the 10th and in the EU (and I'm guessing worldwide although I'm not certain) on the 12th. I'm not sure how it'll work for those who've pre-ordered the OB on Steam though...

Its going online on steam on the 10th of October at 12.01am, it could be considered the 9th of October, depends on how you look at it :):afro:
 
Judging by the amount of people playing the TF2 beta, there's a lot more hype than the rest of the internet would suggest.

That's a good point. They usually use EST don't they? That's five hours behind GMT, so you can either wait up way past 5 in the morning, get up really really early OR act like a sane person and pull a sicky to spend the whole day playing the OB rather than going to work/school/college/the dole queue.
I know which one I'm doing.
 
I hope its 5am for us, a few hours before school and I'll play both.

TF2 had MASSIVE hype. Hl2net chat full, TF2 forums had alot of viewers, it was incredible.
 
In fairness, people had been waiting for TF2 for just over ten years.
 
I think Halo 3 stole all the hype for pretty much any game released within a month of it. Besides, who needs hype? I make my own and i ain't sharing :p
 
Hm, a little off-topic, but still related - if I buy the retail version it'll be fine if I preload the content via Steam now and then use the serial number from the box to activate it, instead of installing from the DVD? Cause my DVD drive seems to have died...
 
Aww shit, I won't get to play until the 19th >< Damn you EA Poland!

FFS HL2 was released by some minor publisher here and it was released on the 16th, as everywhere else, but now we get massive EA and they simply can't deliver.

I don't think you can preload without buying/activating first.

It will be released at 8 am for you. Did no one see the steam update that said it would be released midnight pacific time? I don't want to stay up till midnight to play it though, since I have school and a Drivers test that day. Ill just wake up really early.

Oh and TF2 did have massive hype, That one thread got over 1000 posts in one day.

I don't exactly know my timezones, therefore I didn't know if it was 5am or 8am.
 
im gonna be in mexico on its release day :( I will have to wait a whole extra day to play it!

You can. I have before. You just need to put the right address into your browser (FF, IE, Opera etc.) while you have Steam on. That said, I don't know what the addresses are. Beerdude used to have a thread full of them, IIRC.
 
I used a time zone converter, and the game's out 10 AM Bahraini time..so it should be ready as I come back from school. Nice.

Nah, Finland also has Daylight Savings.

But they are called as Summertime clock and Wintertime clock.
