ITT we post sad things. The ultimate goal is to break our fellow forumites' hearts, maybe even get a tear out of them. Outside this thread are happy, funny videos and the image dump. But inside this thread, there is only sadness. Let us begin.

weird how emotion really ****s with our minds...it can be a very good thing and equally a very bad thing as well.

I haven't truly cried for so long ;(
That was both beautiful and heartbreaking :(
The Ugly cat story made me sad
The guy who took this photo better of saved those poor ducklings

:(

Those Thai ads had me going by the second one.

:(

Saw the second Thai ad in a Consumer Behavior class last semester and I have to say, all five of them are really touching. Darkside's video of Mika and the dog was also very sad...

;(

watch

Watched this ages ago and loved it. Great love story.

Christ, I came into this thread listening to Built to Spill, too. :(

Oh dear god the Marimo vid got me. My dog, who I had known since I was 3, died in september, and it all came back to me after watching that vid.

*snip*

Watched this ages ago and loved it. Great love story.

Man... that was great. I didn't understand a single word, but it was beautiful and so sad.

:(
;(

Makes me worry for my own mortality.

Is anybody else waiting for someone to post a screamer? That would be truly sad.

Old cartoons can be so sad. :(

A short from the Garfield animated move:

This is something from an old cartoon that always gets me. Perhaps you'll know what it is, perhaps you won't. Wish I had a clip to go along with it, but if you know what it is you won't need it anyway--the image should be enough to get you crying.

For those of you who don't know what it is,
it was an old episode of Winnie the Pooh called "Find Her, Keep Her." Rabbit finds an orphaned baby bird and raises her as his own daughter. Rabbit becomes overprotective of her, especially when nature begins to call to her and she yearns to fly. Rabbit scolds her and chides her, telling her how dangerous it is, how she could get hurt, how he doesn't want to lose her. He has her promise that she will never fly again.

But she does, in secret, learning from Owl. When Rabbit finds out he's furious, but Owl informs him that Kessie needs to fly south for the winter; that's her nature. Rabbit realizes he can't stop her, so to conceal his grief he tries to sever all contact with his daughter. On her last night before flying away, she asks Rabbit to read her a story one more time.

Rabbit's sitting on his bed with the door closed, Kessie on the other side, and he says, "You don't need me to read you a story.

You don't need me for anything."

And through the door you can hear Kessie's sobbing.

I wish I actually knew you people, because then I could tell you what happened last night.
