There are way too many games coming out between august-november that are must have games. I'm not going to have time to do anything else(wife, son, work etc) I can only hope that a few get delayed!!
So here's my must have list and release date:

HL2- august?
doom3- august 3
brother in arms-10/19/04
S.t.a.l.k.e.r-11/1/04
moh pacific theatre-9/20/04
halo2-11/9/04
burnout 3-9/8/04
GTA: san andreas-10/18/04

Anyone wanna add to the list?

Metal Gear Solid 3 anyone?

Oh god, yes please!

Also, Silent Hill 4: The Room. I just replayed Silent Hill 2, and is still one of the best games ever made in my opinion. I hope this trend continues. :)

Paper Mario 2 (sometime this year) Oh yes :D

Metroid Prime 2 (2004?) Sequal to the best fps in years? I think so \o/

Rome: Total War (September ish) Looks great - and my brother did much of the textures and models in the game.

Dawn Of War (September ish) Time to get the orc/eldar/space marine costumes out of the closet and polish your 20-sided die.

World Of WarCraft (Dec?) Will be my first mmorpg :)

Resident Evil 4 - Looks set to be greatest in the series, and one of the better games to come out on any platform this year :)

The rest on my 'must buy list' you've mentioned, namely Halo 2, HL2 and Doom 3 (I still believe Stalker will be a bag of shite tho :/)

I agree, this is a great year for gaming, especially for fps, rts fans and GC fans.

I thought the Japanese release date was January 2005? :| If it is coming out this year, then wahey! It just keeps getting better and better! :D

Good point (think I got carried away with excitement :/)

It'll have to go in the '2005 wish list' :)

Pressure's Adventure: The Super Market Conundrum

That game looks sweet!

Prince of Persia 2's new free-form fighting system.
Appearently, the world is your weapon, you can choose how your enemies die.
Players are supposed to be able to develope their own combat style.

Resident evil 4 looks dazzling.

I wasn't that impressed with Metriod prime though, IMO it's not a proper FPS due to the lock on system. Otherwsie it looked and sounded good and was fun but can't call it a true FPS, and definately not the best in years. None the less, a great overall package.

BC, Fable, The Movies..... Moulyneux rocks.

Fable looked gorgeous before - but the new media was not so impressive. They've cut down on the open endedness and also toned down the graphics quite a lot. Still, Elfman is the composer!

Well, maybe it isn't a true fps, but i'd argue that it's one of the best games to come out in the last few years.

Well, they said the same of 2003, then everything was just delayed....

uh Duke Nukem Forever?

okay jokes aside its gotta be Rome Rome Rome

oh and Half-life of course

 2004 has had lots of great things to offer, one of my favorite years so far.
