"The FBI is investigating death threats e-mailed to Florida attorney and feisty game industry critic Jack Thompson.

Source: E-mails threatening great bodily harm forwarded to this and other publications by the attorney himself, as well as a Thompson-penned plea to Senators Hillary Clinton and Joseph Lieberman (sent to their offices and media outlets, including GameSpot) wherein Thompson asks for "help your respective offices could give me in persuading the FBI to act in response to these threats."

I hate you, and the world would be a better place if you were brutally murdered." We gasped along with Thompson. When we alerted Thompson that we intended to seek out additional details and verification of his claims from the FBI itself--as to the status of such an investigation and progress being made (the FBI employs trained media specialists for such purposes), Thompson replied with some urgency: "Are you, crazy? ... People are threatening to kill me. Either report what I have said, having been provided the emails, or stop bothering me."

Allow me to respond directly to the article about killer 7:
I actually thought (pay attention, thought) that Jack had a pretty reasonable thing going this time, except for his nature of exaggerating his views sometimes... until I read wat the full blown sex scenes actually were. I think I lost all respect I might have gained for Jack during the course of reading the interview, and then some

Anyway, on the other article: I thought the guy who's comment was along the lines of "you're insulting my life" was pretty clever, unfortunately he ruined the message with his insults, profanity, and threats :S

We need to have some sort of huge colalboration of gamers and set up some guidelines of what is appropriate to put in e-mails and letters to authorities and the like. Unfortunately, this is nigh on impossible, so no matter how many good, thought out letter people like jack may get, he'll always take the one insulting and violent one in his inbox and apply it to all gamers

The kinds of people who would send him those emails are idiots. Seriously, if that's a fair representation of the "average gamer" then maybe they shouldn't be playing games after all. Even if you're sending him thoughtful, well written emails, whats the point? He's a stupid twat that probably won't even read it. Send those sentiments to the powerful but ignorant people he's trying to persuade to his side (although they probably won't read it either, whatever).

Jack Thompson has no idea who he's dealing with here. I mean...killer 7?? That doesn't involve sex at all! Most of the games he goes against are the ones that promote sex or show (semi) naked people. Why go after a game called killer 7?? He probably doesn't even understand the game...hell...I don't even understand it, and I bought it! How could you say a game that has weird, things (that they say are people) come after you with a funny laugh and they look all weird?? and when you shoot them, you see strange blood effects, not even close to realistic. Although in all seriousness I find it increasingly difficult to summon any righteous gamer fury regarding this kind of topic. People like him (and similarly the idiots who believe they're representative of our communities) are beyond redemption and will never alter their stances, even when educated, as they care too much about losing face to concede that they were grossly misinformed.

I'm getting to the point that I'm apathetic about the whole media witch-hunt, which is a dangerous thing, as there's a good chance it'll get worse.

Hehe I both Love and hate this situation. "Wacko Jacko" doesnt seem to realise he's biggest enemies arent the Games companies who couldnt give a shite what he's doing but the Gamers.
Can you imagine a Million Gamer march in protest of him? It's gonna take abit more messing about from him before it'll happen(We're pretty lazy after all ) but Gamers are from every single Age bracket,Creed,Nationality,Sex hell he and his Ilke could successfully Piss off a good Percentage(When it coems to this 1% is big) of the worlds population.
