Im currently working on a thompson m1 for a mod "veitnam - Black arrow" if its at a reasonable standard im in :) ... this render is still a wip , and i can even spot the errors the handle being a big one. Im goin to be smoothing it out and lowering the polys by abit currently 3500.
I did the m4 thread which went off topic pretty quick ;) .
Anyway heres the render.

Note - this would make it my second model doen in 3ds max after i swapped from milkshape.

Thanks

haha sorry about the m4 thread :D. 3500 poly is a bit high for that model. i can see that u put alot of polygons into that indent under the barrel of the gun. :| from the looks of it that gun should be about hmmm...i'd say....2.3k or so. maybe i'm wrong.... yeah....from what i'm seeing smooth groups can make just a couple hard edges look real smooth(u didnt need all those extra edges to make it look smooth in hard edges). as for the geometry of the gun, i dont really know what a thompson looks like so i think its good. :) another thing. how come ur render(or picture) looks like its really jagged? i cant explain it. i thought it was because i didnt resize the picture but then i found out it was at the maximum size so i was like "what the...." yeah......lol. :D

yeah just smooth it and do some optimizing it should be great. Also you should texture it cuz some of the details can be added into the texure and you dont have to model it.
