Are there are any new unannouned maps in it?

We know:
Dust
Dust II
Italy
Havana
Aztec
Piranesi
Cbble
Chateau
Office
are done.
 
i am so excited to see italy, office and havana and cheatu!!!!!!!! i cant wait to see them all... sourcified!
 
Really? Only those are known to be shipping with the game? Whoa, kind of... err... odd selection. I wonder why they didn't (initially) include the better maps, for match play that is. You know, nuke, train, inferno... and besides, these maps aren't only good for matches, they are really good, balanced public maps as well. D2 is really really good, but damn... I hope they have at least did some balancing with the rest of them.
 
Nuke & Train never even got the CZ makeover...
 
I am a touch disappointed with the initial map releases, I can't stand Chateau, Piranesi or Havana. However I am sure that more official maps will make their way out (please, Inferno and Militia!) and an absolute bog load of custom maps will appear in no time.
 
I hope to see some servers running the map Scoutzknivez.. a very simple and very fun map (to me at least) with gravity set to around 250. :E
 
They better re-do prodigy.. or HEADS WILL ROLL!

Servers are already running an (illegal) version of scoutzknivez :|
 
I expected Inferno in that initial list. It's the best map out of all the official, overplayed selections.

Although seeing Office in Source will make up for that. God, that's going to be awesome. But I still want my Sourced version of BACKALLEY damnit.
 
/me wants fy_snow :) Anyway when the new Hammer will be out we will be able to make CS:S maps or convert 1.6 maps to CS:S... So i'll have my fy_snow hehe!! :)

as_tundra was probably the best VIP map :)

It had everything, large open spaces above ground and lots of close quarter combat underground. Ah the memories...

Protect the VIP team!
 
no cs_assault? what the **** is that bullshit. that was one of the best maps theyve ever made. no ****ing militia? get the **** out of here. **** cs:s and valves bullshit lame ass ****ing mp.

Bah, anyway it doesn't really matter which maps are in or not, I'm sure there will be plenty of custom ones and eventually a whole bunch of servers will add them in their map cycle.
 
It was a great map. And their choice of lineup for maps is incredibly lame and gay. I was really having high hopes for cs:s, seeing as theyre shipping with no mp of their own, you figured they'd take the time to convert ALL the cs maps, and give us some new ones. What the **** are the surprises then? Updated graphics? :O Get the **** outta here....all I know is, is the single player better make me cry in amazement of how great the game is. Cuz the lasting appeal of the mp i can tell already is going to be dumbed down to a very short period of time. And no, i dont mean even when sven coop2, dod:s, and other mods come out, i mean the actual mp of hl2, cs:s.

edit- sorry valve, i shouldnt have blown up like that, i mean, uve only had 6 years to make a 20 hour singleplayer game, sorry i forgot it you didnt have enough time to make a decent mp.

Lets see, game engine took about 3 or 4 years, so HL2 was made in about 1 or 2 years for a 40 hour sp game. Next time you try and act mad get your facts straight my friend. Just because you don't get what you want doesn't mean you have to act like an ass. I guess you totally forgot you yourself could probably port the map without much difficulty. Oh but forgive me and my logical thinking. :rolleyes:
 
de_train, de_nuke and de_inferno are CAL maps. I wonder if CAL will switch to CS:S as soon as it's out but if they do we couldn't play those maps. :(
 
Well... I agree Militia needs a makeover the most... I mean, that map is just so outdates in it's looks :) but it plays awesome.

If it isn't updated by Valve - I'm sure somebody in the community will.

Hell - with Source even a remake of cs_desert ;) is a cool possibility :p

No need for you to personally attack me. And if you think it's 40 plus hours idk where you've been reading, but the last official word we heard about it was around 20-25 hours. And, the engine itself didn't take 3 or 4 years, they said it themselves the engine took 2 years to make, a little more. They have no reason why they couldnt make a some kind of mp. And i was supporting them with cs:s alone. But when they even half assed that, its just the straw that breaks the camels back.

Well lets see, you are the only one bitching cause of a map that isn't included with CS:S. :rolleyes: Seeing as how Gabe's dad took about 60 hours or something to complete the game, I am fairly certain its over 30 hours of gameplay. Show me where it said they took 2 years, because last I saw it took at least 3... You still don't have a clue if there is really a hl2 mp or not, they could've hidden it from the reviewers, no one knows, we will just have to wait and see. Yeah cause you know they half assed the game :rolleyes: for **** sakes kid, GROW THE **** UP. You really need to get into a developer and work on about 3 or 4 different games at once, you might see the difficulty, but probably not, cause you'd be fired the first day for bitching about something you want that wasn't added to the final product.

Me and you both made a truce, which I then accepted you as a friendly guy. You offended me by posting that utter trash you consider a "post." Well when you turn into a whiny little 3 year old that doesn't get his way, truce sorta wears off. Yeah the roll eyes are used where need. You can be older than me, but you still act like a little kid when you don't get your way. You don't know Gabe's dad so don't gauge him by your father. VALVe is working on multiple games right now, but obviously you don't notice that. Dozens of high quality maps? Is there even a dozen official cs maps??? Funny thing you bring up the half assed mp again, maybe they did this cause they knew modders could make a better mp?? I will just point out the HL mods right now, HL1 needed no real MP really. But you obviously to see that, HL1 lived off of MODS. Sorry to everyone that doesn't realize THIS.

they should honestly remake all the cs maps eventually. I cannot understand you people who WANT to play dust dust dust dust all day, that and aztec. Variety is a good thing, and there are some really good maps out there that are hardly ever played (as guinny said, backalley).

They had better remake the maps like nuke, train and militia... and inferno.

Think of how good some of the maps could look now though, vertigo anyone? Oilrig could also look fantastic, i'm sure some of the slightly newer cs maps like torn could also look pretty damn amazing in source. The trouble is, most cs players won't give a damn as long as they've got their aztec and dust, and it is exactly that reason why I won't be playing CS Source for too long unless they keep adding on to it. I don't expect them to change the game, but giving us variety in maps is a GOOD thing. I've played enough DUST to last me a few lifetimes, I can't remember the last time I played de_storm or de_vertigo, or as_tundra. Just because some people play the game only to get a good score, and they can do that easier by learning one or two maps better than they know the layout of their house :/

747 I can understand why nobody plays, but it was good for games of around 4 a side too.... nobody plays it. Does anybody remember the last time de_vegas was played? that is another one I wouldn't be too sad to see go but still...
what about cs_estate? or a nice new house raid map in source for around 8 people a side...

people think the newer maps suck because they haven't practised them as much. The more the map degenerates into a simple deathmatch, where one person can dominate the entire map if practised enough, the more popular it is. For large games, I can imagine piranesi, storm and torn having alot of playability. Sure the game degenerates into YET another form of deathmatch if you have about 64 players, but at least it's a slight change.

cs_siege with some form the APC again would be interesting...
 
I'm glad they gave the Piranesi some love. That map was and still is underated. Honestly it was probably my favorite. Atleast now people will be more obligated to play it.
 
You know what I think is frustrating?

maps like fy_iceworld... those crappy no good maps that seem to be popular. I mean, any idiot with Hammer can make an fy map.

Not knowing what Piranesi was? Some of them have never even played Back alley mate... which is one of the BEST counter-strike maps, and it has been around for ages.
 
guinny please stop your whiney bitcheyness. we dont even know the whole list of maps included in cs:source. the maps that werent ported over prolly werent ported for a good reason, like they suck, are unbalanced and prolly just boring. with the new hammer editor you can port maps with the greatest of ease. simple as a push of a button to convert. if you really want your shitty ass one sided assault, or your dark camper happy train im sure someone will port it over then you can go back to campin as a T on assault.


but ffs please stfu. me im waiting to see the new maps they added.
 
why don't you include the shitty railgun wars Ass-tech and the retarded "RUSH A FASTEST" de_dust? :p

The best maps are the ones where multiple routes are viable, which is why de_dust2 is better than the original unless you are playing with very small numbers.
 
Crazy as it is, I agree with guinny sort of. See, when I made my first post in this topic I was just looking for inferno and didn't see it in the list so I posted to comment. I had completely forgotten about militia and assault. I am honestly surprised that they didn't at least include militia, and instead picked some bullshit like Havana and Piranesi, which are maps I never see anyone really playing, not to mention they are both the kind of maps that are just so unremarkable that they blend together. I honestly can't tell which is which. Same with chateau actually. They are just boring.

Someone will make a new militia, and inferno and backalley (hopefully) so it's not all bad. But still, an odd choice to include 3 mediocre maps instead of fan favorites.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I completely forgot about inferno and prodigy. Those are two other must-haves when it comes to remade maps. Then of course there's all the fun custom maps that use vehicles (CUSTOM MAPS, not normal ones so don't post to whine that vehicles would ruin CS), like gijoe cars, cars_n_robots and the god-like tugboat which has disappeared it seems. Think of how great those maps will be with better vehicle implementation.
