Thoughts on Fy_Iceworld

Iceworld is totally under-rated. It is an awesome map where you don't have to wait 3 minutes until the next round. It is fun with 8v8/10v10. I just wanna know what u guys think.

A block with 4 smaller blocks has to be underrated. Its just mindless killing, and pretty poorly created mindless killing at that.

Iceworld is good for people who are addicted to sugar and caffiene and whose attention span has been completely destroyed because of fast-paced television.

The rest of us get bored pretty quickly. Though I must say, 20-kill TMP rush streaks are fun.

The Iceworld remakes for CSS are terrible. The original was all about simplicity and now they have to add all these prefabs and bump mapping to make it actually look like ice. Add the fact that instead of the narrow corridors we get huge open spaces. :flame:

There are many better maps. If you want a good quick map try mcdonalds_mds.

yea the worst ive seen as a remake for source is poolday it lags like crap and it looks bad me and my friend are working on a fun_allinone 2 so more fun releasal will be a along time lol im still learning some things in hammer

I love aim maps, great practice for scrims and the like, but good ol' normal cs is best.

Ahh, iceworld is ok, but i like iceworld 1.6 better.

Whoever redid poolday for source should be shot. The lag is unberable and i have a really good gaming comp. All the prefabs are worthless. The only thing i like is being able to shoot the toilet stall doors and having them fly open.

If someone was going to do an fy_ or aim_ remake, please don't add too many prefabs. Use hammer to map most of the stuff, just like 1.6. Most of the aim and fy maps DO NOT NEED PREFABS and SHOULD BE SMALL.

mcdonalds_mds, bestbuy_mds, and olivegarden_mds are all good maps. Before you go and make your fy_ or aim_ maps, check these out.

I prefer the fy_iceworld on HL2DM. Just a few players though. And I find that all custom maps lag more than official ones for some reason. Mcdonalds is cool, but I get terrible lag which makes all my shots seem to never hit, when other maps they do. Same with poolday.

Giant384: The middle where u buy stuff is now a patch of ice. If yoiu shoot it and drop into the water, you can plant a bomb and buy equipment.

I used to love iceworld in cs 1.6. Great practice for n00bs like me to get better and I always love when theres only two players left alive at the end of a round, and then watching them face off in stealthy cat-vs-mouse shoot-outs.

I'll admit it looks like whoever made it hardly tried, but sometimes simplicity is bliss. But that's only in my eyes.

However, I'm not that fond of it in Source. Just not quite the same, I guess...

I have just played the worst iceworld remake ever today. It was for HL2DM and was one of the ugliest maps I've seen. The mapper decided to add plantlife and fuana into such unatural positions.

The original is a classic. Whenever somebody attempts to alter it it becomes unbearable.

PS: Is it just me or in port of the original, you seem to be unable to shoot through the brick barriers?

It would've looked nicer without the added prefabs and textures. Iceworld was about simplicity.

in the origional cs the bullits could go through anywall anytime in css they can only go so far they just need to make the walls thiner

The original poolday mapper (squall) did the source version. There is a 'lite' version out though...
