First time I post in this forum :P

so I've got this box with a GeForce Ti4200, and I'm having some problems, sometimes the computer stops for no apparant reason, the only thing I noticed is the screen plug, which is ofcourse in the video card. just push it a little bit until the problem is fixed.

Recently, I started playing Deus Ex Invisible War, and the computer copletly stops after about 10-15 mins of play.

Today, I opened the case and tried to touch the card, it was to hot I couldn't hold my finger on it longer than one second.

I installed 3d Turbo from the CD that came with the card, it's a utility for overclocking and monitoring ..
The Temp after playing Deus Ex was 71 C, the fan speed is about 2800 rpm.

I get this warning messge:

***MSI VGA Monitor Warning Message***

Temperatuer is unusual
Now temperatuer is : 73 Degree C
Memory voltage is unusual
Now memory voltage is : 2.54 Volt 6a

Should I get a new fan? and what is this memory voltage? and how can it be fixed?

First of all if you're overclocking put it back to stock speeds. If not, make sure the heatsink/fan is on correctly, and that the fan is spinning. Though I think the fan may be dying, you should get a new cooler for it.

yes, i had the same probelms with dues ex, its not overclocking.

the game is a res hog. get a better card. most games nowadays push the limits of that card, and it oveheats, in 2 years ive gon from a ti4200, 9800pro, and soon to be x800pro

I guess ti4200 is old isn't it .. I bought it last year for HL2, it was the cheapest one with good enough performance, the guy setting at the desk recommended it, so I took it.

Is Radeon 9600 a good alternative? I found it cheap at NewEgg http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=14-164-021&DEPA=1 but I'm not so sure .. it will probably become old quickly .. I guess.

so what about the voltage? anybody know anything about that?

You would see notable performance gains if you were to go up to a 9600pro. I reckon though if you were gonna get a card, I'd save up that teeny bit more for a 128 meg 9800pro, they're not much more expensive than a 9600pro these days.
