Wow this makes me very sad. It's one thing to have been a horrible incident of friendly fire in the heat of a firefight, it's another completely if it's negligent homicide. Damn

If you don't know the story, following the 9/11 attacks he gave up his multi-million dollar contract with the Arizona Cardinals football team to join the Army, where he then went Rangers special forces. He fought in Iraq and then Afghanistan. While in Afghanistan his group came under fire from Taliban forces. He was killed. Initial report said hostile fire, then later it was revealed to have been friendly fire in the midst of the battle. Hopefully now this criminal probe reveals it was just a tragic incident and someone being a ****wad didn't cause his death.

Yes but turning into a criminal probe is a big deal. It doesn't bring him back or anything but if someone is responsible at least in the sense of being negligent I want them to accept responsibility for the action.
