Attorney-General Michael Atkinson to Quit Front Bench

For those of you who haven't heard, this is the bastard who was stopping us getting an R18+ rating for games, resulting in L4D2 getting censored here, as well as prompting the Fallout 3 "Med-X" change as well as other smaller releases being outright banned.

South Australia just had a state election yesterday and while he still got his seat, there was a massive 12% swing against him and he's decided to step down as Attorney General by the looks of things.

This means hopefully the new AG appointed won't be as retarded and we can finally get this R18+ rating introduced.

Replacement is John Rau, who seems to be a lot better than Atkinson.

Before you cry foul, please note that under Swiss law, any petition that can gather over 100,000 signatures must go to a national referendum. So if the government starts banning games willy-nilly, all it would take would be the signatures of 100,000 gamers (or, just as important, 100,000 opponents of government censorship) to have it publicly challenged.

Not a bad law, huh?
