Timeline creation software

I'm looking for a program that can make timelines. Doesn't have to be fancy, boxes of text and images which point to the appropriate spot on a timeline is all I'm really after.
Asking here might be a bit of a long shot but I can't find anything useful after some googling and I find it hard to believe that what I'm after isn't out there somewhere.

Word 07 has many options for that kind of thing. I'm not so sure about any other version of word. I just used Word 07 to make an evolutionary hierarchy time line for biology.

Word 03 can do it too. So can Photoshop, or MS paint for that matter. You can also do it with a ruler, some paper, and a pencil or pen

If I was doing a small timeline I'd be happy to use paint or whatever and try to get the measurements about right myself. But I'm hoping to do a timeline with over 150 events on it and then add or remove events later on, so while doing the measurements myself is possible it isn't practical.

otherguy I looked at using Word but it isn't designed for this kind of use.

Sure it is, you make your time line, label the years, then you add the little boxes with leaders to it. It's all basic word funcitonality
