probably my most looked forward to film this year, i wasn't even aware of it's existence until i came across a preview of it in this months empire and then i caught the trailer before super 8 and i am positively giddy with excitement for this. i mean just look at the cast! gary oldman, benedict cumberbatch, tom hardy, john hurt, colin firth, ciaron hinds... ****, that's ridiculous!

i get the shivers just watching that. this is being helmed by tomas alfredson who is probably more notably known for let the right one in which i only recently got round to watching and enjoyed muchly. what i liked best about it was just how bleak and atmospheric he managed to make the surroundings, so what he makes of cold war era britain should be very interesting.

i've also just ordered the original BBC series with alec guinness off the back of these trailers, and i'll likely get round to reading the novel by john le carre when i have a chance inbetween the song of ice and fire books.

That is one pretty beefy cast. Never read John The Squared, so I can't comment on the movie, but I might watch it just for the ensemble.

Heh. I only heard of the novel for the first time last night on Eggheads (or was it University Challenge?). Cool coincidence.

also looks like a sausage fest! I don't think any women were involved in this movie whatsoever so me thinks it'll be amazing just like Reservoir Dogs
