Tiny Catapult + tiny pie + bee = awesomeness

That's awesome. I bet it took forever to get all those direct hits on bees. Shooting a 3.5mm diameter pie at a 1.5cm bee with a tiny catapult can't be easy.

Why'd they have to goop the spider?

Man, thats so cool if it is indeed real. I cant imagine how long it would take to hit a bee like that.

The one that flew over and missed looked very fake, but the rest did seem realistic enough.

^ I like how the bee kind of turns his head, "wat."

it looks like CG to me... I think at that size the liquids wouldn't splatter that much.

Does it really matter if it's fake or not?

The fluid physics looked fine to me.

Does it really matter if it's fake or not?

If it's fake the coolness factor decreases by roughly 100%. Then it's just a cg render, boring.

That's like posting a thread of a video of a man on mars, and then being like "does it really matter if it's fake?" Uh yeah it really does.

Not comparing constructing a tiny catapult and recording the pelting of small insects with pies to landing a human on Mars, but the point is that it's something amazing they've created/accomplished and that's why it's cool.

http://theinspirationroom.com/daily/2007/millimetres-matter-for-samsung-ultra-edition-handsets/

The production team shot high-speed footage of insects being hit by droplets of coloured viscous liquid. Maquettes were then created to match the shapes and positions of the ‘heroic’ insects and painted blue. Real pies were then thrown at the maquettes and shot at high speed. The biggest challenge was creating enough light to achieve the required exposure. To ensure the insects were comfortable and under no threat of heat exhaustion, the light could only be switched on for up to 3 seconds at a time. Even with the specialist equipment, the depth of field was literally never more than a few millimetres, meaning that the insects only had to move minutely before going out of focus.

Yeah, it seemed kind of unlikely the pies would splatter if they were that small. Unless the pastry wasn't actually pastry.

Still looks kind of neat. Super mean, though. :(

Yeah it would have been cooler if it were real, but still, for a commercial that was pretty sweet looking.

I disagre on both counts.

Not comparing constructing a tiny catapult and recording the pelting of small insects with pies to landing a human on Mars.

Actually, that's exactly what you did.

but the point is that it's something amazing they've created/accomplished and that's why it's cool.

That's why it's cool to you, to me it's simply cool because it's an unusual video, nothing more nothing less.

And I'm in a rotten mood, I'll shut up now.

Well good thing you pointlessly split my post into 3 parts even though it was all part of one coherent point, which you could have just simply said you disagreed with.

Well good thing

I don't think it was a particularly good thing. I don't get why you'd ever think it was.

you pointlessly split my post into 3 parts
What? I did no such thing. Who the hell are you even talking to?

even though it was all part of one coherent point
What? What was? I think you accidentally deleted part of this sentence.

you could have just simply said you disagreed
Disagreed about what? Your post doesn't make any sense, we're not even arguing over anything.

Huh? Is this part of your sentence from before? Man, you really need to proof read your posts before submitting them.
