Well this might seem a werid topic for a thread, but well i'm sure Half-Life 2 will be everything we have hoped for. But i would just like to mention the people who may have passed away whilst waiting for the game.

I'll get a head crab for ya ;)

R.I.P

If this is in anyway seen as inappropiate then close, just thought we should acknowledge them in some way

Believe it or not, you're not the first member morbid enough to think of this thread.

Personally I think it's a f*cking stupid idea for a thread.

I'm inclined to agree... it's not like waiting for Half-life to was a war they were fighting in. "[insert name here]...died valiantly waiting for a computer game"

This is not the first time I saw a thread along these lines either. First time was in the Steam Forums. It created quite a stir there. People wanted it closed because they were offeneded, but a few of us though it was brilliant. I got in a long argument about death in it, and ultimatly the thread was very draining. Soon after that I left Steam to post here on HL2.net.

But I think its a great idea. Should old aquantance be forgot and never brought to mind?

Heres to the fallen. *raises cup*

dude...i think i'm gonna die. this waiting is literally killing me!!

Ok fair enough, there would have been a few people that would have wanted to play hl2 before they died... but its such a minor thing in life, im sure they would have gone after something more worthhy.....

remember that halflife 2 ... is just a computer game in the end... its not the be and end all of our lives

I don't have any problem with remembering old friends who have passed on, I simply think it's, well, belittling to remember them as if the last thing they had on their mind was "oh, god...i'll never play half-life 2". Might be just me.

do you mean people in the army or people with like diseases like cancer
cuz i was gonna make a thread about it, but then i saw this one

I find this highly innapropriate.

No, no, its not like that at all. Listen. There are people, like us, who were eagerly waiting the second coming of Half-Life, and have died without ever knowing the game. This is true. I am willing to accept and acknowledge this.

The fact that they never saw it does not define the event of their death. The actual event of their death is not the issue.

(that goes for you too, rammstein)

Oh, well, yeah. I was carrying on with this assumption. It's a much more noble thread with that out of my head.

My thoughts exactly.

Halo 2 fanboys will never know true love at sight. And if they do...they'll go "OMGOMGOMG HALO 2 OWNZ YU0R SHEITY HAYLF LYFFE TWO OMGOMGOMGOGLOLQOQLOWOWTF!!111`111313112@#$#@!"

Playing HL2 is near last on my priorities in life. Anyone who thinks this is that important needs to be shot.

Ghost Freeman: WTFZ?!?!?!

Dood. that had nothing to do with this thread.

You missed it even more. "that important",. as important as what? They didn't die for HL2.

enough said there.

When I was a kid, a similar thought used to bother me. What about all those Star Wars fans who never lived to see episode 1? My own father loved the trillogy for its symbolism, but did not live to see episode 3. After seeing 1, however, it did not seem as big of a deal. Star Wars was not nearly as epic.

Half-Life 2,. now that is epic. And it is significant enough to me that it would seem,. unfullfilled,. to have died without ever having played it. And for some, this is truth. As HL2 fans, they are our fallen brothers. Resepect those who have gone before you, thats what this thread is about.

Yes. I missed the point. Sue me.

I don't feel for the people who won't play HL2 because I feel the same as them: It's just a ****ing video game, not a life-changing experience.

Look. It doesn't have to be "life changing" to effect you.

Can you tell me you dont care if you never play it?

With over 900 posts on HL2.net, you're certainly looking forward to the experience.

****, I know HL2 isn't going to make me as happy as, say, getting the job I want or finding the right girlfriend. All we're saying is "cheers to those who never got to play". Paying repsects.

Yeah! Right on!

Poor dudes. May not have been the number 1 priority in life, but it's still an unfulfilled desire. Like wanting to climb Everest before you die, only not as unlikely or chilly or strenuous.

All different words. I suggest you learn them.

Giving grammer lessons is really sweet of you. Just thought I'd point out the grammer error in your nickname. "I am a elephant" Should be "I am AN elephant". AN should be used before words starting with a vowel rather than A.

fluke, thankgod you understand.

You guys are making it like they lived for the game. This is not what i meant it to mean, but more of a 'bugger' will not be able to experience the game.

It was just an aknowledgement, and make you think how lucky you are :)

Peace, some people need it.

Interesting thread.

But yes, it is a pity that there are people who never got to play.

Truth. But death is a touchy subject, prone to elicit negative responces. Its a natural defence mechanism for people to take it the wrong way, as it avoids the potential for thinking seriously about their own mortality.
