Just recently I've noticed my screen being way brighter which is odd because I've never touched the screen settings on the monitor. I don't believe it has any thing to do with the hardware because when i start up a game it gets a little darker. why would this happen? also, just cuz i know remembered. under my "desktop">profile>settings my highest resolution used to be only 1440x900 now it can go all the way up to 2560x1600, i believe my gpu can handle this resolution but my screens max is 1440x900, its almost as if my gup and or monitor are no longer working together... or something.

That's odd, try reinstalling the monitor's drivers again.

i dont think my monitor had drivers and i was not aware that a monitor ever needed drivers, and yes i do have the drivers for my graphics card installed, however i think i might reinstall them.

i said that because usually that only happens when no drivers are installed.

when no drivers are instlled its all crapy and nothing works.
