Top 10 breakthrough PC games

I hate it when it's in video only. I don't want to listen to some guy/girl go on about something I don't care about.
Lists, plox.

King's Quest
Alone in The Dark
Half-Life
Quake
StarCraft
SimCity
Civilization
Ultima Online
Wizardry
Doom

Decent list although half life should have have been higher

Boring, uninteresting, long, those are just a few adjectives that popped up into my mind when I began watching this video.

A pretty fair list.

I would have swapped out StarCraft for Dune 2, because, in my opinion, Dune 2 is the RTS from which all others derive. While SC was remarkably sucessful, it was not revolutionary and brought few new things to the genre. It was, however, an excellently put together game and one of the best RTS games of all time, just not that much of a breakthrough.

Lies!

Everyone knows the first proper RTS game was Herzog Zwei.

SC was a Breakthrough for quality and balancing and content filled RTS.

Dune 2 wasn't that great.

Thanks for posting the list so we don't have to watch some tool announce it. Pretty decent list, I agree with HL, Starcraft, Civ, and SimCity for sure. I never played UO but I guess it deserve it as the first supermassive MMO. Why Doom and Quake though? I'd say Wolf3d and Quake if two of id's early 90s shooters really need to be on there.

Yay for old games no one gives a shit about anymore! Except Starcraft!

Halo isn't number one? Halo is like the ultimate rolemodel for all the games we see nowadays. Halo invented just about every concept you see in today's games like the FPS-genre, screenlooking, game music, crowbars, etc, etc.

Their reasoning for Doom being on the top spot is "Yeah we know we know, Wolfenstein 3D came before this, but ... it's Doom! DOOM!"

Yeah well, you can't spell revolution without evolution.

Replace Civ with Deus Ex, and we got ourselves a deal.

Replace Quake with Deus Ex rather. The arguments for Quake and Half-life were basically the same. There is one fps too many in that list, and DE is rather the first well done shooter-rpg hybrid.
