Top Gear USA?....blaarghh

Why can't America just think up it's own shows.

The name isn't the only thing they're copying.

Terrible terrible idea. It will never stand up to the glory that is clarkson...(and those other guys, who are they?)

James May(long haired guy, aka Captain Slow) and Richard Hammond (kinda young guy aka The Hamster).

hahaha wow, there's james may on the left, clarkson in the middle and hammond on the right

I'm starting to wonder why I go on the internet, it only ever exacerbates my anger...

Does anyone else find the funny in a Canadian telling an Englishman about an English show?

Lmao this looks classic, I can't wait to see the cringe factor of the first episode. It's a great format, but the thing which makes Top Gear excellent is the presenters, change that and you get...fifth gear as already said. D:

Seems this is a rising trend with the US clones, Life on Mars looks hilarious too. I really hope they don't ruin it, that was such a sublime series.

Why can't America just think up it's own shows.

With the recent clones like The Office and Life on Mars popping up, I have often thought the very same, but the thought never lasts when I remember that most modern day TV gems are from America; Sopranos, BSG, Lost, Prison Break 24...

But yeah, this looks pretty bad. In other news, I saw the Top Gear TV Meeting advert the other day and it made me giddy with excitement for the new series.

It also made me hungry for biscuits. Very, very hungry.

ok, what the hell. You just can't compete with the original top gear. Why OH WHY do they have to bring this to america???

THATS IT!, America, YOU'VE WENT TOO FAR!.

THIS. IS.WAR!!!!!!

*Gets out his combat fatigues and air rifle, and prepares to assault NBC's offices*

I call fellow Top Gear fans and British Telly patriots/addicts, let us stand and march together, and united, end this culture of /facepalm and dissapointment that mainstream US telly has inflicted upon the world for too long!.

Seriously though, thats just bloody terrible, America, FFS, stop being douches and invent your own television. Anti-pop, the difference is, were importing the US progs not remaking them and badly. :p

Also all these remakes tend to have the goddamn word America or American in the title, and lots of stars and stripes, the whole American habit of remaking other countries programmes seems to be slapping on a sickly smelling layer of goo called patriotism (nationalism in other countries) because that apparently is irresistible. The fact Americans know **** all about cars (lol soz, just poking) aside, its just...ugh....stealing progs and making bad remakes just to have a bit of old glory in the openig creds its just daft.

After the huge freak-out that happened with the announcement of the American version of the Office, I'm prepared to just wait and see if its any good. If not, then who cares.

First off, this show isn't meant to replace the original. It will obviously NEVER EVER EVER be as good as the original, but at the same time it might end up being an alright show.

...Thats only watched in America by those not awesome enough to watch the original. :imu:

Seems a petty reason to defile what is a British institution, governments come and go but Clarksons pot belly and unique idea of humour remain.

One problem with the show that I'm sure has been brought up a million times is that since NBC is funded by companies (many of them may sell cars) they can't really take the piss out of shit cars like they might normally for fear of the advertisers pulling their spots

whatever, i predict that this show will be off the air after 1 season

Why don't they just transmite the original show? It's less expensive than producing one and has the quality.

Clarkson annoys the hell out of me. The other two are cool, though.

What a terrible idea, Top Gear is top gear because of the mixing of personalites between Clarkson, May and Hammond. If you try to replicate that mix, surely all you're going to end up with is something highly artificial and cringy. The thing bout NBC being funded by car companies is funny though, seeing as one of the major charms about Clarkson is him ripping up cars of all types...without restraint. The US Top Gear, who will inevitably have to suck up to their sponsers, will be a stain on the TG brand :(

Oh well, will be interesting to see the inevitable pops the threesome have at the US show :cheese:, I'm sure there will be many opportunities to do so :D

Its like when they tried to copy Red Dwarf, and that was an epic failure

I can see it now....

*enters studio*
"Now, we have a TREAT today! Probably one of the best cars on the road.....the new Mustang."

The end of trash talking cars, ans sucking big dick. Yayyyy

Again because Red Dwarf is just pure British. Its like Britain trying to copy a Die Hard movie or whatever TV series you guys love but would just fail utterly in any other culture.

... sorry, that idea's just so damn hilarious.

I hate the idea of an American Top Gear more than I hate Jack Thompson...And I hate Jack Thompson.
