"Topic Closed" -Whats up with that

Ok every single topic that gets over 1 page long is closed?!??!
Why do you guys close so many topics!

They are not closed when their over one page long, they get closed because their either spam, flaming, abusive, pointless, clones, spoilers. Their moved if they get put in the wrong forums. Posts are edited if they are inapropriate, people are banned for a variety of reasons, all but the worst get atleast one warning first.

And FYI, there are hundreds of threads over one page long that are still open. Which kinda spoils your claim

oh and they also get closed if they are threads asking why threads have been closed. I don't know how many times people need telling, if you want to know why a thread has been closed, PM a moderator. However, don't ask what was in the thread, that defeats the object

BUT, I'll leave this thread open long enough for The PC Nerd to reply so he knows the deal. Then its locked like any other thread of this nature.

It's because things like this rubbish end up being said. Statements that have nothing to do with the topic at hand and are really just flaming garbage. Controversial topics tend to cause people to go overboard with their statements and just say hateful and nonsensical remarks. Which happened towards the end of that thread.

None of the staff here close threads or edit posts or ban people for any reasons other than the benefit of the community. If we let those flame threads continue, they would and have in the past spilled out and people have got incredibly cruel with things they say in anger to others, resulting in a lot of people getting removed permanantly

Spoilers are removed right now cause well the reasons are obvious with that one heh

Some threads just get removed because they serve no purpose, or are made simply to cause trouble. Their better off gone cause no matter how many times you ask people not to flame, they will.

In a perfect world you wouldn't need moderators, people would post in the correct places, nobody would flame others, everyone would get along and nobody would ever be banned. But its not a perfect world

Well i'm jsut not used to a thread being shut down after so little flame. Over at hl2c we have to have a literal war going on in the forums before they close a thread and that was a quality I liked.
Closing a thread just ends all the convo in it its like shutting down a website after they say "fcuk" on it once. There are many gains in keeping a topic open like that, yes there are some flames but we would ignore them and continue with the convo.

The way your system works i could close any topic i wanted by getting a few accounts/freinds to start flaming in a thread.

Also when people flame they don't mean any of it they are just really "psised" about somthing and wan't to get thier point accross in the "coolest" way.(retards)
A thread does not deserve closing you need to delete flames and warn the flamers.

If a guy keeps practically asking to get banned, I say ban him. this isn't hl2c pc nerd, so get used to it here. Most of us can keep things civil here which makes the conversations actually worth something, rather than just long postcount++ flame discussions. I think closing bad threads makes this place that much better, and since people know that being jerks is gonna get the thread closed, they tend to watch themselves more. its a good thing.

and this place and its staff do take pride and pleasure in being unique.. so perhaps u can see why threads get closed for those various reasons pointed out.. or perhaps not.. but just remember, this is not hl2c
