If you've ever benefited from this site or file-sharing in general, now is the time to show your support. We are looking at a cost of $30K per month in fees. Recent estimates by attorneys are looking at 2-3 times this amount in a full-on battle. Help us fight back and ensure your right to share doesn't end here.

I can see why you would.. I mean, that could be seen as fighting for your "freedoms" or ideals, or to keep something that means alot to you, whereas, death overseas is something everyone is used to, and a somewhat dull thing.
Also, a torrent site closing down may impact you more than 100000 deaths 3000 miles away in the short term, so yeah it makes sense.

I'm not saying it isnt sad though, but thats the state of humanity

If you have a site like that you must take the heat when it comes..But BitTorrent trackers are not illegal huh? Atleast not in sweden. I know a swedish site that has a bunch of these kind of letters posted on their site..

This whole thing is a bad idea. This battle cannot be won. Its a waste of time and energy, and may very well end up backfiring by bringing further attention and litigation against torrent users.

Sites like this get shut down all the time. Theres no fighting it.. and no need to, really. New sites will pop up.

This whole thing is silly. But what do I care.. I never liked bittorrent anyways.

A battle that can't be won? The MPAA has no standing to sue the site for distributing the torrents or running a tracker. Both of these things are completely legal, as there are never any illegal files on any of the site's servers.

Its enabling piracy. Doesnt matter what data they have,. the laws are tricky and the lawyers are trickier.

If the justice department can shut down Isonews.com, they can shut down torrent sites.

My only comment is that the document is dated December 14th, my birthday.

Anyway, I don't like illegal downloading -_-

I personally dont have a problem with illegal downloading because i dont find it even remotely immoral. (I'd never buy any of the products i download therefore no one loses any money) And the products i would actually pay for, i do. I.e I paid for half life 2.

Oh my poor poor post quality

Oh man, I come back to the boards for all of 10 posts and already I'm about to be mob lynched.

If you ever stop
writing in that haiku style
I will destroy you

Illegally downloading content from the internet for free is wrong...

Everyone knows that. People try and make excuses to themselves about it but you have to admit that it's still taking something without having directly paid for it which is (in the way most people do it) a bad thing to do for the industry.

So if you get caught, I think it's only cool to bite the bullet rather than waste a load of money fighting a battle where you are in the wrong on a number of levels.

From a logical standpoint. Why bother donating? Why not just use another torrent site that can't be sued, due to certain loopholes? Why not use an open source p2p program?

Seriously.

Fighting for your freedoms? to steal someones hardwork?

Quite possibly the site's last attempt to extract money from it's users before it pulls the plug. Who knows?
