some dude with a camera follows some guy (Danny) who has tourettes syndrome (illness with which people can't control what they say and curse a lot) and drinks too much... its real, but most of the stuff that happens is a mix of tourettes + alcy

EDIT: Oh and hes dead now cause he got in a car accident.

GO COUNT YOUR DICK!

"What the hell was that?"
"Your son just fell down the stairs!"
"Well quit it!"
*cut to World's Greatest Dad mug*

That's so great. I heard about this guy dying awhile back. Sux.

sigh ..this is older than the internets ..didnt he die?

he most likely doesnt have tourettes or if he does it's compounded by the fact he is an alcoholic and an asshole. Any claims linking the disease with his perpetual swearing is dubious at best ..it's a myth that people with tourettes "curse a lot" ..people with tourettes are more likely to have facial and verbal ticks not swear uncontrollably

rofl i love how he even used bob saget as a curse word.

"OH BOB SAGET"!!

Eh, aren't people with under 10 posts not allowed to post threads with links in them?

i am 100% sure he has some sort of mental handicap, if you watch the bit where he coughs a lot and swears every time he coughs, he moves his body in a way that only someone with mental illness would. Not trying to be an asshole, but its true, you don't see mentally healthy people looking like that. Its a known fact that he drinks LIKE ****! But he is also mentally ill and yes he's an asshole.

So you're posting videos of a person you believe to be mentally handicapped and dead, in order for people to laugh at them? :|

Lol, welcome to the forums!

Old stuff, but isn't it just for show? Seems like it to me.

mentally ill could be anything from a person thinking they ALexander the Great to severe autism ..does he have a mental illness? yes most definately but I think it has more to do with very low iq rather than an identifiable disease ..in my experience (3 students I've worked with who have had tourettes) he does not have tourettes ..at least not if you judge it by the amount of swearing ..in my experience and that of my colleagues at the time that included a on staff psychiatrist we have collectively never witnessed someone with tourettes swear like a sailor ..it's just utter bullshit perpetrated by hollywood that people with tourettes swear a lot ..they have muscle spams, facial ticks, make involuntary grunts, chirps, wails or screeching but NEVER swear uncontrollably ..tourettes guy doesnt suffer from any of these symptoms ..I really dont feel sorry for him as he painted a very negative picture of the disease

..I really dont feel sorry for him as he painted a very negative picture of the disease
How is swearing hilariously a more negative picture than muscle spasms, facial ticks, involuntary grunts, chirps, wails or screeching?

I really can't believe we're arguing about the name of the thing; obviously a lot of it is acting, or exxageration to be more accurate. Tourettes Guy is just an easy catchy name that most people would understand or be able to imagine the hilarity easily.

Makes sense. If you had tourettes, why would you CURSE uncontrollably? Wouldn't it make more sense if it was just a random word or noise rather than specific vulgar words?

? because it's not what tourettes is? ...thought that was obvious. How can people understand what it is if they've been given a false impression of what it is? what are people who see people who really have tourettes supposed to think? "well it's not tourettes because he's not swearing ..must be possessed by the devil"

it's not even remotely accurate ..it's like trying to pass off the disease as something else ..it already has the stigma of being the "swearing" disease, tourette guy doesnt have to solidify that false stigma ..what's truely ironic is the fact that most people wouldnt want their affliction to be misrepresented ..leads to the general public making ignorant remarks or jumping to illogical conclusions

Your choice of words, "negative" is what's throwing me. Just because it's not accurate, it's a negative impression? Also, it's not a ****ing documentary. Nobody watches it to "understand what it is". It's funny, and that's that.

Welcome to the internet, people will do what they please for the sake of humor. You sound like one of those politically correct maniacs. OMG THEY'RE NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE A FALSE IMPRESSION OF TOURETTES BY MAKING THESE VIDEOS!!

I really think you're overestimating how much of an effect this has on people's views on tourettes. Anybody who would make ignorant remarks or jump to illogical conclusions is stupid or ignorant to begin with. These videos don't change that.

I never found him funny.

Also I agree with Stern here, he doesn't even actually have Tourettes as far as I can tell, there are a lot of more problematic, debilitating components to the disorder. Veg, misinformation is never good. There are actually quite a few people who firmly believe that having Tourettes means you yell FVCKING C*NT at inopportune times and that's it.

yes, we're talking about a disease here not a movie review ..."aids is caused by sitting on a toilet" .."if you masterbate you will go blind" ...ya I can see how inaccuracy can be quite positive

Also, it's not a ****ing documentary. Nobody watches it to "understand what it is". It's funny, and that's that.

it doesnt ****ing matter what the context is ..."aids is gods way of punishing gays" ..saying that and then claiming no one listens because it wasnt presented in a scientic/medical forum is just being naive ..people will believe the stupidest things ..it really doesnt matter if it's coming from someone with an phd in quantum physics or the guy who delivers the paper ..people believe what they want to believe

oh shut up you alarmist git, you're doing exactly the same thing

yet the media is responsible for tourettes being seen as the swearing disease ..your protestations to the contrary are not exactly convincing

I hate this video because it paints a very negative picture of the game. Its offensive because its not anything like the real Age of Conan game.

We're talking about a game here, not a movie review ..."aids is caused by sitting on a toilet" .."if you masturbate you will go blind" ...ya I can see how inaccuracy can be quite positive.

It doesnt matter what the context is. "Age of Conan is a game where you fake rape people with fake penises" ...saying that and then claiming no one listens because it wasnt presented in a official game forum is just being naive ..people will believe the stupidest things ..it really doesnt matter if it's coming from someone with a degree in game design or the guy who delivers the paper ..people believe what they want to believe.

one common sympton of tourettes is swaying side to side on your backlegs, which he does quite often like in the vid where he calls the cops cuz of a pissed off long legged pourta rican (spell?) tries to break into his truck!

you mean stimming? that's a characteristic of autism ...that's proof right there he actually has autism ...it's Autism man

A stereotypy is a continuous, repetitive, purposeless or ritualistic movement, posture, or utterance, found in patients with mental retardation, autism spectrum disorders, tardive dyskinesia, and stereotypic movement disorder.

Doesnt have to be autism.

Doesnt have to be autism.

I never said it had to be, you miss my point

oh and ...

Two common conditions of childhood which are often confused with Tourette Syndrome, because of the stereotyped movements, are Stereotypic Movement Disorder, and conditions on the autism spectrum.

Stereotypic Movement Disorder = stimming

Other conditions which feature repetitive behaviors in the differential diagnosis include obsessive-compulsive disorder, trichotillomania, vocal and tic disorders (e.g.; Tourette syndrome). Although not necessary for the diagnosis, stereotypic movement disorder most often affects children with mental retardation and developmental disorders. It is more common in boys, and can occur at any age. The cause of this disorder is not known.

Stereotypic movement disorder is often misdiagnosed as tics or Tourette's.

Stern, didn't you used to be a special-ed teacher or something along those lines?

Butt Fuuuuckkk!!!

come on people... does it matter what mental illness a man has? The guy was a funny son of a bitch and... whatever.

Stern, didn't you used to be a special-ed teacher or something along those lines?

yes, worked at a school for kids with multiple disabilities ..most of my students had downs syndrome, one or two had autism .. one of my former students had fragile x and mild tourettes

Yep, my parents both work in special education. I have several friends with tourettes. It's a completely false stereotype that they yell swear words, they often only flinch or make a little chirp every now and then.
