transferring saved games to another disk?

I'm a newbie on Windows but know a fair amount about other OS's like Mac and Unix, and need to know how to transfer saved games for HL and HL2 to a new hard disk. I plan to reinstall the OS and the apps but would like to transfer the saved games if possible. I'm running Windows XP and the current version of HL2.

Copy the files in here: Steam\SteamApps\[account name]\half-life 2\hl2\SAVE
to the same spot on your new drive.
