How would I go about taking saved games from one computer, say, I save file from KoTOR, and then taking it with me and when I install kotor on another PC, I can just put the saved games on it and continue.

I tried putting it on a blank CD, but on battlefront 1, the game said it couldn't load the file, and on Kotor, it just crashed.
Ideas?

I usually just email save games to myself that I want to transfer. Check to make sure that the game you are trying to load the save on is the same version as the one that you saved it on.

burn the PC

Did you move it to the correct folder where the game normally saves games? Did you get all the necessary files from the original PC?

Normally fairly easy.

1) Find out where the game keeps its saved games
2) Copy the files/folders
3) Paste them onto the other computer in exactly the same place (make folders if you have to)
4) Play

Some games might require a rename of the files/folders so you don't overwrite existing game saves (KotOR is like this IIRC) just follow the naming convention

I tried to paste it exactly into the folder. KotOR worked fine, but when I moved into another area, the game would crash on the loading screen.
And, say I wanted to move it to an offline computer... But i have no other saved games on Kotor.

And what the hell is a memory key?

The game is the first version, I started it on an offline computer... unless the bundle I got it in already had it patched.
It was the Best Of star wars PC, with kotor, empire at war, jedi outcast, battlefront 1, and republic commando..

One of these.

Otherwise known as flash drives or pen drives. Much quicker and more efficient than wasting a whole CD for such tiny files, and are also cheaper in the long run. You will be surprised at just how you managed without one for so long.

edit: if you're still having trouble getting your transferred save to work, after you load it up on your friends PC, try making a fresh save straight after and see if that works when you change area.

ooh, yeah, a flash Drive. They have some cheap ones for 10$ at target, I might get one. Easy to move about..
Also, the computer has Vista on it. Could that be the problem?
(It sucks BTW.)

Edit: Making a fresh save worked, but overall it is impossible to play because the 3d hardware sucks. The sky is all crappy, and its all fuzzy, and extremely laggy.. D:

Yeah, thought the old fresh save thing might work.

If you're going to get a flash drive, make sure it supports USB2 and get the biggest memory size you can afford. Also watch out if the keyring/lanyard loop is on the cap - you can lose the drive way too easily without even knowing it's gone, along with all your valuable data.

can't do much about your pc spec though i'm afraid :p

Not even my PC.. Only thing I can do right now though.
Empire at War works. And so does CS:CZ, CS:S is ultimate lag. D:
And CZ crashes every so often. EaW just lags a bit.
