I still remember playing the game like it was just yesterday. Having access to all areas. Trains, Planes, Ships and Vehicles. A simple system of setting up the destinations on the route. The technology upgrading over the course of years, until you had technology like Monorails and Mag-Levs at your finger tips.

Then there was the variety of the environments. Greenland, Artic, Desert and an unusual Toyland, all with them there own set pieces that ranged from buildings, industries to vehicles. It seemed to do what railroad tycoon could do, only a lot better.

Then comes the disasters. Zepplin explosions at your airfields, Rifinery distruction due to suspicious circumstances, plane crashes, Train/Truck collisions, Coal mine collapses. Then there were the more unusual aspects of disasters, being invaded by UFO in all shapes and sizes. The best and aweful part was when they kept on landing on my railway, and the air-force was dispatched to distroy the motherf*cker.

It was an easy game to get into, but hard to master.

Chris Sawyer, the man behind the game was going to develop new and improved technology to create a sequel to transport tycoon deluxe, but then decided to use the technology on a little game called rollercoaster tycoon. This means I am still waiting for a sequel that will never come.

Going to the gamestore the other day, I stumbled across a game that looked similar to TT, "Transport Giant". All "Giant" games seemed to all be modelled on TT, however, somewhat fail to deliver. Putting the game down, I decide to buy Call of Duty and a PC Mag. My predictions where correct, Transport Giant got a public flogging, with a mere 55% and a crap review from PCZONE.

So it now begs the question, will Chris Sawyer lead the way for a minority of devoted followers, or will there be a company out there who will have the balls and brain to create a masterpiece from this doomed genre.

Yes i have the game, im playing it a little when im bored.
But when it was new it was hell so much fun.

I haven't got the windows version and can't download it from abandonware due to inexplicable technical reasons
