Hey guys,
I was about to download HL2 off steam today but I was thinking...I am about to get a new computer in a couple of months if I download the game on my current computer will I be able to transport to the new one? If you guys can ease my concern. Thanks

You shouldn't have a problem providing the new computer will have net access for steam to check. I think Valve will only start looking into something if suddenly an account has wildly different IP's linked to it, hinting at it being used in different countries, which would probably be always suspect, like someone had given their account details out on the net or something.

But you should be fine. It's all tied to your Steam account so you can just redownload it and keep going providing you always use the same account.

If we downloaded HL2 off of Steam, will we always need to be connected to the internet to play the single player?

No, but the first time Steam runs on a machine its gonna want to connect to the net to check some things or you wont be able to run steam/any games (apart from codename gordon which can work without it). After that though you can run in offline mode and play without the net.

sidious, no worries :)

Its still legal if i buy hl2 and i wanna go play while i'm at my dad's house i can just log into my account (and download the content) and play there when i bored right?

Im sure its fine, I have steam along with all the games ive purchased on my desktop and laptop. Though I highly doubt you will be able to connect to a game at the same time on both your home and your dads comp.
